Hey,

I woke up this morning and clicked on the internet icon... nothing. Page couldn't be found (in windows 7) rebooted, and tried in windows vista... same thing.

Back to windows 7, on my PC I can't even access the routerlogin page.

Windows is telling me limited to no connectivity. I have tried plugging the cable modem directly in to the PC with no success. Currently am posting this on my server, which is linked to the same router and cable modem as my PC with issues.

First thing I did is the old ipconfig /release and /renew. It is giving me an error about not being able to contact my DHCP server, and that the request timed out

I had a brief look here from google: http://thevistaforums.com/lofiversion/index.php/t25614.html

The issues he has seem fairly similiar, only his is wireless and I am using ethernet cables (I tried the ethernet cable direct from my modem to PC so I don't think the cable is broken).

ANyone have any ideas? possibly the network card has broken ? it is a built in one to my motherboard (P5N-E SLI). I checked the device and reinstalled it in windows too.

Had something similar with my p5n-e sli card the other month. Tried loads of things...finally reinstalled xp and still could get no connection. Ended up resetting my cmos by taking the bios battery out for 15 mins then all seemed to work. Weird!

OMG lol. It actually worked.

Thanks a lot dude, I reset the BIOS earlier on using the option menu, but didn't bother with the battery.

Took it out along with the LAN cable, the monitor and anything to give power to the PC, and then basically removed the battery... seems to be fine. Only now the permissions for my mapped drive are screwed Grrrr. Been one of those weeks :(

Thanks though!
