Im looking for a car and i want some sugestions for what i should get.
Its going to be my 1st car but i should have around 8,000GBP to spend and i might be able to get around 13000GBP if im good :)

I like subarus, bmws, toyotas and other Europian cars.
I dont like Astras and i dont really like convertables. Im looking at more of a sporty car like a coupe but sedans are ok.
But any sugestion is welcome.
It will need to be reliable and comfortable because i will be going to viset some friends that live about 500kms away ever 2nd or 3rd weekend.

Fuel consuption doesnt consern me as much it does with other people either.
It can be a new or used car. But i would like it to be resonably safe just incase there is that one time u lose consentration or forget to look or u just have some bloody nutter on the road.

So your sugestions please :)

First car you say?

My suggestion - spend no more than ~£2000 on a car, plus whatever is required on insurance, and stick the rest in a high interest bank account, and use it to upgrade your car once you've got some more road experience.

As a first driver, you have a much higher chance of writing off a car (yes, I know not everyone does, but statistically lots of new drivers do write off their first car compared to more experienced drivers), and you don't really want to be risking a £8000-13000 car to your inexperience (parking bumps, misjudgements etc)

Are you an American based in england, or in the US?

I think he is in Aus.So without knowing how kind those nice insurance people are over there it's difficult to suggest something affordable
Holden V8 for the win.

I live in Australia but i hate all Australian cars :p So definatly not a holden. I dont think insurance companys are too bad down here and i dont mind paying a little bit extra. Im also going to do a defensive and an advanced driving course aswell because it not only will improve my skills but lower the price of my insurance premium :D

Edit:I saw someone mension something about moding a car. Truth is i dont really want to do that because most the people that do that in my town are ******* and i dont want to be thought of as one of those people

I've no idea about insurance in Aus, so no idea what you will be paying, or about 2nd hand prices, so no idea what you can get for your money,

but how much do 406 coupes go for down there? they are a pretty good buy up here..

I find this sentance really worrying..

I don't think there is an awful lot of advice most of us can offer you - the AUS car market is completely different to that in the UK, as are the prices - you even have plenty of models we've never even heard of, so our recommendations won't be that useful. As you can see, you'll just get a load of people shouting the names of random Australian cars they've heard of but know nothing about price etc, like Monaro.

Still, might as well join in, OMG LOL GET A HOLDEN HSV.

Ok dont shout out the australain cars. A lot of cars u have been mensioning on this forum we do have down here.

Cars down here cost about 5000AUDs then what they do up there but if u search hard enough u canm find them at the same price

Ok, no idea what cars you've got over there, but I reckon these will be all available. For that price you can practically afford any car, given its a few years old. when you say this is your first car, are you 17, or 25 and have never driven? Either way, certainly in this country, insurance would be a big factor in what cars you could buy. Not sure how insurance works out ther, so couldn't comment.

Personally, I wouldn't spend that much on a first car, because you always prang it, and you just dont have as much fun. If you get something you can afford to damage, or dont care about the off scratch, you can have some fun.

Anyhow, for you budget here are a few cars available in the UK you might car to find out there.
