Hey guys,

After a case for a system I'm going to be building... Someone suggested the Antec Sonata II Piano Black Quiet Case - 450W Smart Power PSU... I like the look of it (specs wise) but I hate doors and like removable motherboard trays...

What difference do the rubber bits in the hard drive trays actually make? I would have thought the rubber should be in between the mounts and the case

Can anyone suggest something similar? Was thinking maybe the Asaka Eclipse as that seems to have what I want.

Do doors offer much in the way of sound absorbance or are they just... gizmos?

Not so bothered about the looks of the thing :)

Cheers!

If your not bothered about the looks then just get the Eclipse with a pair of fans. :p

The door does dampen CD drive access noise, but not really anything else. Not a important part of the PC to lower noise as it is only normally audable when you put the disk in anyhow.

The rubber makes no difference to my ears or touch, at all over any case I have used of high quality without it, yet others think it makes a difference. If you think it would make a difference it would be quite easy to mod it in, or get a better solution completely for silencing your drives.

Good case, very good value if you intend to use the included PSU, the Eclipse is the better case by quite a way in my opinion, but it should do considering the price in comparisson.
