In another thread, I blurted out some fudge about something or other (nothing new for me). But mentioned I couldn't actually think of ANY FPS I would want to play...

And in all honestly, I can't... The last proper FPS single player I really, really enjoyed, was probably CoD Modern Warfare, other than that, you have things like Bulletstorm which was fun, CoD 2 which was EPIC. Ummm, what else... Borderlands, and Borderlands 2, both brilliant...

My mind is getting thin now... Maybe Deus Ex? I didn't like it, felt very sluggish.

I'm ruling out the obvious Battlefields, nothing has felt right since BF Bad Company 1/2. CS:GO just doesn't do it for me in the same way CSS did. I never really liked TF2 enough to play it for hours on end.

So yea... What other ones am I missing?

I recently got insurgency for ~£7 on steam.

MP team based, no ranking system, multiple game types, not run and gun as 1 2 shots your dead.

Bioshock series
Crysis
Planetside
Far cry 2
Counter strike GO
Max payne
Wolvenstein

Bioshock, amazing call.
Crysis, good call!
Planetside 1, never played, 2, played, but had no one to play with so quickly lost interest.

Far cry 2, I enjoyed it, up until it was rinse repeat for the stations to unlock.

Max Payne, the new one. EPIC! I'm literally 1 level from completing it.

Wolvenstein, only played a bit.

Farcry 3 is a load of fun, looks great with a big map to explore, Just Cause 2 which is a 3rd person shooter but is a laugh a minute for a couple pints of beer.

I recently bought Singularity and Homefront for about £1 each which are both linear, no brainer FPS's but have a decent story, I thought they were well worth the money if your expectations aren't high.

Metro games are in the same vein but more visually polished and again I enjoyed them for linear games that they are, more expensive though.

Fallout 3 and NV are simply awesome, they can be had cheap and you'll be playing for months if you get into them, ignoring the main missions there is so much to explore and discover. If you buy get the ones with the DLC packs as they add some decent playing time as well.

Do people still play Planetside 2? And if so, anyone on here? Finally, does it still take a life time to unlock just 1 gun?

Singularity.

A bit of an under the radar game, but very good. Fairly old, I believe was released in 2009ish, but not ugly by any stretch and quite an original game mechanic. Biggest compliment I can pay it - probably the first sci-fi fps since the original Half-Life that has really been enjoyable for me.

Tribes - But it's been abandoned but is still fun.
Zombie Master 1/2 - If you could ever find a game
Red Orchestra 2 - Has a high learning curve
Natural Selection 2 - Also has a high learning curve but can be fun once you get the hang of it.
