So, the weekend after next I am in NY and after many phone calls, I found a 2nd hand console shop that has a couple of back lit Gameboy SP's and one is holding a 'pristine' version for $60 and a 'ok' version for $40 for me.

I asked the person who I'm meeting over there to look for one before hand, but she is useless :P

Anyway! Excited! I think I have decided on the pokemon game to get... The green one? Can't remember exactly.

But yea, any other suggestions?

Can't wait :D

Tell me about it! The pristine one has only been used a few times apparently, still in the original bag and box it comes in from new. With all the manuals and stuff. The other one has scuffs and what have you. If the screen on the ok one is in perfect order, I will buy that and then buy a new plastic set. If not, I will get the pristine one.

I'm wary of buying games on the bay... Such as this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FAST-DELI...ideo_Games_Video_Games_JS&hash=item2a2da587bc

That screams fake to me. As there are many listings like that.

And I will be picking up Legend of Zelda Links to the past and Four Swords :)

I was going to pick up the Red edition... Why Emerald? Whats so good about it?

As for the DS... Not a fan, a friend lent it to me for a while and I just didn't get on with it. Did not like it. Too big and found that most of the games had some awkward stamp on for you to make use of the touch screen.

So... This is my list so far:

Pokemon Fire Red/Ruby/Emerald (can't decide which one... Fire red is the winner atm)
Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
Golden Sun
Golden Sun The Lost Age
Baldurs Gate: Dark Alliance
Mario & Luigi: Super Star Saga
SF2 (alpha 3 / 2 turbo revival)

thoughts?

New list:

Pokemon Fire Red/Ruby/Emerald (can't decide which one... Fire red is the winner atm)
Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening
Golden Sun
Golden Sun The Lost Age
Baldurs Gate: Dark Alliance
Mario & Luigi: Super Star Saga
kuru kuru

What is the effect in place of the fake emerald then? Will it still work? Or is it a duff game?

Question guys,

I am discovering the minefield that is fake GBA games. Half of the ones I want are pretty rare and as a result, the minefield is just a slaughtering for me :(

So, my question is, if I were to pickup a fake, what implications does that have?

Bare in mind, me and my friend are hoping to coop on some, line four swords.

I have pokemon Sapphire legit version with box bought new by myself at the time. Also golden sun 1and 2 (bought from random places used a few years ago). Let me know if you are interested.

I have fired red and emerald as well but not sure I would sell those.

I am :D:D:D

Spent a little too much money today...

Those backlit ones are hard to find. I loved mine:D

Mario and Luigi superstar saga

The backlight!!! Why was this not a feature on all of the gameboys haha. I love it, I have it on the lower settings normally. Yesterday, I was on a flight coming back from NY and we hit England in the morning. When I opened the blind to BLINDING sunlight. I just upped the brightness a notch and job done!

The GBA SP that I bought is a fully refurbished one, new plastics, buttons and screen. It looks brand new. Apart from the shoulder buttons which have been used a lot as the click on them is pretty weak. Something I can easily fix in jiffy so not that fussed.

Other than that, I have not put it down! I have logged how much time I have played it over several games. I fully charged it in New Jersey on Friday last week. Since then I have done 9 hours... Don't know if you get a warning light or anything. But no failings yet!

This morning was AWESOME, I got on the train. Pulled out the Gameboy and got stuck into Golden Sun. Love it :D I love the idea of all of these little gems that I have missed only just coming into my gaming career haha.
