Suggest Improvement please

Hiya guys reinstalled BF3 today my specs are

AMD 955 @ Stock
8GB Of Ram
1GB 6950

I tried Ultra preset on Bf3 wasn't awful 30 FPS - 70 FPS was thinking I could deal with this then thought nah I want 50+ All the times started to adjust with the settings made maximum FPS increase however my minimum was still 30 FPS so I thought I really don't mind playing on LOW with 60 FPS however my computer can't even do that is it my processor? Time for Intel?

The GPU is just a bit better than the 5870 I'm using and I can play on high settings so that shouldn't be such a problem.

Is that the Phenom X4 955? Think you could clock it a little? BF3 is quite CPU intensive and an extra few hundred MHz might give it a performance boost.

Yep it's a x4 955 I've tried overclocking however i can't see going from 3.2GHZ to 3.6 is going to help i think this processor is just not worth playing with might have to order myself a 3570k and Z77 board

try the overclocking first! Might save yourself a buck or two

What resolution? Have you tried ultra without MSAA?

The 30 fps minimum sounds like a bottleneck somewhere, either VRAM maxing out or cpu not being able to handle it, but BF3 isn't particularly CPU bound.

1920z1080 with all of the settings.choices I didn't use MSAA, bottleneck maybe and maybe VRAM

Have a quick read of this

I'd bump your cpu speed to 3.6 and see if anything changes. Then think about a bigger gpu perhaps.

BF3 uses about 1.3GB on high resolutions, your GPU might be limiting you

Use the FXAA instead of MSAA (I think you are already), turn off DOF, and tone down the HBAO/SSAO. Try a few things not set to ultra. My 560ti 1GB @ 1920*1200 has most things set to ultra and it runs very well.
