Hi

I currently have a NETGEAR Orbi 370 2 units. I am not all that impress it not giving a stable connection around the house and snuggle in a small room upstairs.

I am wondering whether to look for a better system and also to get wifi into the garden too we only live in a 2 bedroom house but this Netgear is struggling..

I can't wire backhaul so I wonder if there a system that can over come this as a good wireless backhaul

Just wanted to share my experience with the BT Whole Home Wi-Fi AC2600 mesh system. I’ve got 4 discs set up around the house, and it’s been working really well. I’m consistently getting over 300 Mbps over wireless in most areas, which I’m pretty happy with.

For now, it’s doing everything I need, but I might upgrade to the BT AX3700 mesh system in the future to take advantage of Wi-Fi 6 and even better coverage.

Anyone else here tried both systems? Curious to hear how the AX3700 compares in real world use, do you play games online?

Eero mesh has been good for me, I have the pro 6 although it’s in wired backhaul config. Been rock solid for years. Only negatives is they are pricey and owned by Amazon. There is a newer pro/max 7 range as well now.
For me the best thing about them is they are quite basic on the settings front and very set and forget type of router, not everyone likes the more basic interface and prefers to tinker with settings, so not for everyone.

Is it stability in that, the backhaul is dropping, or more so clients with connecting? Is it a distance thing, because only solution for that would be a third unit. The spec of that Orbi 370 isn't bad but it is dual band. MLO helps with what Netgear call "enhanced backhaul" in that they carve out some of the backhaul from the live bands. But you've not mentioned performance being an issue, more the stability? I guess you have one unit downstairs and the second upstairs?

EDIT: what is your placement like? Not near any mirrors for example, or placed in corners of a room?

I am not too sure what to expect.

When I am in the room where the routers are I get a good speed 850 - 930 which I love. When I go in the next room it goes right down to about 250 - 400 is that about right? The router are in great location to my knowledge. When you mention duel band is there tri band too? if so would that of been a better choice. I can not get a fast internet outside unless I put the sat on the window still I think due to stone built house?

Don't do this. The "Premium" version is one of the biggest product failures of BT. They have never been stable and there was a massive thread on the BT forums about how shocking they are (I only learned when I bought them in 2021 and had problems). Maybe it's still there. The older AC version most people praised for the reliability.

The wireless backhaul market in the UK is so stagnant right now. Nothing is available at any decent price. No idea why Deco doesn't have any proper tri band backhaul product in the UK and Eero stopped shipping the Pro 6 in the UK.

The speed drop is normal as you move around rooms, are the internal walls stone as well or just stud? Yes there will be Tri band on the more expensive models. But if the issue is with the wall construction reducing throughput, the best way to counter that is more nodes.

Downstairs are block walls yes. Upstairs are stud walls. Might get another sat if I can is that what you suggest.
