Hi guys,

My current PSU, Corsair 850W AX850 Modular, has decided to die on me after and it looks like I'm going to have to buy a new one.

Can you please suggest me a black, quiet and reliable PSU?

I'm happy to spend up to £150. Do not believe I need to go above this price, unless anyone suggests otherwise. The reason for choosing 850W was about future proofing it and I wasn't sure if I would add an additional graphics card.

My computer specs (built 2 years ago)...
Gigabyte Z77X-UD5H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3
Intel Core i7-3770K 3.50Ghz (Ivy Bridge) Socket LGA1155 Retail
Phanteks PH-TC14PE CPU Cooler
Gigabyte Ati Radeon GD 7950 Windforce 3X 3072MB GDDR5
Cosair Vengeance Low Profile 8Gb (2X4Gb) DDR3 (1600Mhz) PC3-12800C9
Samsung 250Gb SSD 840 SATA 6Gb/s
Western Digital Caviar Green 3TB SATA 6Gb/s 64 Cache (OEM)

Would appreciate any suggestions,

Thanks,

Abs

hello mate, thanks for the response. I'm completely out of touch with all of this stuff. What is the big deal about superflower internals?

Is EVGA the best on the market currently?
I'm happy to spend a bit more if it's worth it.

I've just looked at your link and also found:
SuperFlower Leadex GOLD 850W Fully Modular 80 Plus Gold - £109.99
SuperFlower Leadex Platinum 1000W Fully Modular 80 Plus Platinum - £165.95

Shivy - long story short, I got screwed over by the company I purchased the product from :(

Thanks RJC and stulid :)

Stulid - Assuming you agree with RJC?

Is next model up worth price?

EVGA SuperNova 1000W '80 Plus Platinum' Modular Power Supply (220-P2-1000-XR) - £161.99?

:)

850w is plenty for all dual card setups, your system at the moment during gaming you wont see much past 380w ~

(getting a little slow in my old age :p)

Have you tried contacting Corsair directly, they can sort you out with a replacement - worth getting Greybeard over here perhaps if your PSU is still in it's warranty period. How old is it?

You don't need to go through the retailer to RMA with Corsair :) Not worth forking out for a new PSU if you can get a replacement direct from Corsair on the cheap/for free, so worth a shot! :)

THANK YOU GUYS!! I will go with what you have suggested.

Shivy - I made the mistake of going with the retailer as it was within their warranty, however they stung me with a partial refund. It's safe to say I will not be buying from that company again. I wish I had gone to Corsair directly :)
