Hi all,

Just picked up massive attacks album and am loving a bit more of the mellowed out music lately! Im in awe of teardrop and unfinished sympathy! I like zero 7 and such but am just looking for some more for my collection!!

Any suggestions welcomed:)

Air - French, chilled out band - amazing stuff get 'Moon Safari'
Moorcheba - kinda similarish to Zero 7, a bit bland for my liking tho.
Lemon Jelly - not bad chilled out music
Roysopp - Great great band, kind of chilled out more upbeat at times.

Cheers for the replies mate - just checking them out now ;) Coca cola and its free itunes is all good :D

haha - yeh I have some of those too;) However I dont even want to use those Coca Cola tokens - damn DRM! I got the Hasselhoff single this week, just to get him to number one.:p

boards of canada?

Start with "A Beautiful Place Out In The Country". Then try "Music Has The Right To Children" and "Geogaddi".

Also, try some of the following artists:

Portishead
The Album Leaf
Bonobo
Nightmares On Wax
Aphex Twin (Selected Ambient Works)
Múm
Steve Roach
Susumu Yokota
Ulrich Schnauss

A range there, some you may like, some you may not. :)

Future Sounds of London..........pretty much all of their output

The Orb ... BBC sessions with Back side of the moon and Ever expanding etc ..

John Martyn...One World

Gong... You

Bryan Ferry... Boys and Girls

Black Dog... Spanners

If you are gonna go down that route then I suggest Sigur Ros - Incredibly beautiful soaring music.

FireMoon - I wouldnt call FSOL chilled, they are pretty ubeat and wierd electronicy!

Apart from what's been mentioned:
Moby - Play: The B sides and others
Thievery Corporation - Most albums.
The CSI soundtracks have some good chilled out music.

Not sure if you would call it a true chillout track but its one of the first tracks I throw on to relax me.

The track is called 'Into The Fire' performed by 'Thirteen Senses' and it's the first tune to go into my chillout playlist along with 'Massive Attacks - Teardrop' and 'Orbital's - Halcyon'

'Into The Fire' is very well worth the listen.

I'm not one for chillout albums as I prefer random tracks.

some stuff by UNKLE is pretty cool :)

(EDIT) and stuff by late night alumni (empty streets has some awsome tracks)

mks2005 makes some good recommendations.
I also second Wilf's choice of Global Communication.

If we're looking at electronica-style ambience:

Dntel
The Future Sound Of London
Sixtoo
Chris Clark
Biosphere
Fennesz
Four Tet
Chris Clark
Aarktica
Plaid

If we're looking at chilled indie stuff:

The Appleseed Cast
Joanna Newsom
Jeff Buckley
Pedro The Lion
Gregory And The Hawk - lovely chilled acoustic stuff
Sufjan Stevens - Come On Feel The Illinoise is the best album of 2005
Elliott Smith - God?
Iron & Wine
Mercury Rev
Damien Rice
90 Day Men
iLIKETRAINS
Amy Millan - singer from Stars solo project
Bonnie 'Prince' Billy - his latest album is fantastic
The Decemberists

If we're looking at post-rock/chamber-rock (Sigur Ros-esque stuff):

1 Mile North
A Silver Mount Zion
Anoice
Audrey - beautiful all-girl band from Denmark
Ef - utterly amazing post-rock from Sweden (I think)
Efterklang
Eluvium
Explosions In The Sky - one of the greats of post-rock
Foxhole
God Is An Astronaut
Jakob
Paik
Rachel's - chamber-rock, very chilled classical influenced stuff
Set Fire To Flames
Sparrows Swarm And Sing
Sublux
Tracer AMC
Yndi Halda - dreamy post-rock
Youth Pictures Of Florence Henderson
...As The Poets Affirm
Neil On Impression
Souls Vibrating In The Universe

That ought to get you started. If you want chilled music you need to get into post-rock.
