Hey guys,

how you doing?

Basically, my PC is starting to show signs of old age, I'm currently using the Geforce GTS 250, does the job for me, plays wow and such. But i want to upgrade it ready for bigger and better things.

I'm thinking the GTX 560? Any other suggestions for around this price mark or even slightly cheaper? Also, much poiunt going for the Ti version?

Whilst i'm here, my current CPU is AMD Athlon II x4 2.60 Ghz, which is fine for the moment, but sometime in the near future I'm planning on buying one of the prebuilt CPU, RAM and Mobo packages, probably an Intel Core i5 package of some sort, any suggestions on what one?

Thanks,

Dan

Hey Dan, I think your current CPU is definately going to hold things back TBH. You might want to consider that upgrade sooner rather than later!

What screen resolution do you play at?

Bear in mind that the new AMD cards are rumoured to be out around Xmas time, and an 'upgraded' 560Ti is due end of this month. Prices will be a changing soon :D

I'm thinking the CPU will hold me out till Xmas time when i can afford the package bundle from OC, no?

As for screen resolution, not sure lol, never really checked!

I'll probably wait until the end of the month then, as I'm in no rush to get it.

Is the GTX 560 1GB good enough for the likes of WoW, Skyrim, BF3 ect?

Yeah, you could get the card first for improved framerates, then when you upgrade your CPU... you'll notice a nice big jump again I suspect :D

You ought to check your screen resolution, as this will give an indication as to how powerful a graphics card you need. Presuming you're running no more than 1920x1080, I am sure a 560 1GB would be fine for these games (just don't expect to turn all eye-candy upto max).

It's certainly worth waiting to be honest - that's exactly what I'm doing. Was going to buy a 560Ti myself a few weeks back, but it's just not worth it now with the new cards so close!

Don't think about saving money by not getting the Ti version. The performance you lose is much more than the cost saving.

If you are looking at that price I'd suggest a 6950. I think it's the Sapphire ones you want. You could strike it lucky and get one that unlocks to a 6970. But if you don't the 6950 is still an epic card.

For £180, 1GB HD6950 or 1GB GTX560Ti would be best if you had to buy right this second... but just don't! Try and wait at least 2-3 weeks and your money is bound to buy you sooo much more :)
