get the OCUK 8800GTX as its cheaper

a 500-600W PSU such as those in the corsair HX series will be enough to power the PC

raptors are arguably not worth their cost, the forum is divided over this

Thanks for the comments
Agreed on the GTX :)

So I could do away with the raptor and maybe stick another 500 gb drive in there and not see a performance loss ?.

I would in the future want to go SLI so I think the 800w psu will have to stay ?

Hello widdyst, unless you are looking to run an insane amount of hard drives :p, then the Corsair HX 620W will be perfectly fine.

One thing I didn't mention was with regards to the particular motherboard that you have chosen. If you are looking to purchase a SLI ready motherboard, have you considered one of the newer 780i chipset motherboards? :)

I'll only be running 2 hard drives so think I'll go for your suggested psu :)

I have seen the new 780 chipset boards but to be honest My knowledge isnt great so could you tell me of any real advantages to go for one ?

Hello widdyst, the 780i motherboards are very similar to that of the 680i motherboards. However, the 780i motherboards comes with the PCI-E 2.0, a third PCI-Express slot if you wanted to go TRI-SLI and Intels 45nm CPU support. Based on them few little extra features as well as takking into account that you can get the 780i boards for around the same price of a 680i, then there is honestly no reason not to purchase one.

You can read a review here about the 780i XFX board which may be of some interest to you. :)

Replace the POS striker with a proper 780i board, If your not going to go for SLI or TriSLI just get a P35 board instead. As for the GFX card get the BFG GTX lifetime warranty its worth that little extra imho.
