I have an Abit AV8 3RD Eye motherboard, which until recently had a Crucial 1Gb (2x512Mb) PC4000 Ballistix Dual Channel Kit installed. Wanting to upgrade to 3Gb I purchased the 2Gb variety of the above thinking it would work.

It didn't work and I ended up with either 1Gb or just 2Gb depending on the combination I used. As far as I could tell (downloaded a memory test thing as well) they all worked fine, but just not together. So, I'm selling the 1Gb kit to a friend and still have two slots free.

Can anyone recommend a 2Gb kit to install? I don't mind another brand as I'm reading bad reports about Crucial.

Cheers,

Are you planning on overclocking?

Anything really, depending on your budget. Mushkin are expensive, but G.Skill do good kits for ~£150! PC4000 or PC3200 varieties, depending if you want to run tight latencies at default speeds or overclock and run a divider. Up to you! :)

G.Skill 2GB DDR HZ PC4000 (2x1GB) CAS3 Dual Channel Kit
G.Skill 2GB DDR ZX PC3200 (2x1GB) CAS2 Dual Channel Kit

Mushkin 2GB DDR XP4000 Redline Extreme Performance Dual Channel Kit (2x1GB)
Mushkin 2GB DDR HP3200 High Performance Dual Channel Kit (2x1GB) CAS2

OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC4000 Dual Channel Platinum Series EB-DDR CAS3
OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC3200 Dual Channel Platinum Series EL-DDR CAS2

Any of those imo. :)
