Morning Chaps & Chapesses,

I am looking for a bit of help, done a few builds in the past but now want to build a micro atx to put in the living room under telly.

Been looking at this case.

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-161-BX

Just need case and components, no OS keyboard or screen.

Around the £400 / £500 mark if poss, needs to run games ok , especially football manager and maybe a few shooty shooty.

** Edit **

Was thinking of the Asus H97M-E Intel H97 ? I have no experience with the mini boards, would have been handy to have wireless but maybe to much to ask

Any ideas greatly appreciated.

"ok"????

Its a tremendous case!

the big problem with the colossus is the whole front it closed off i.e. no mesh so not much direct airflow from the front of the case.. the prodigy is the better case by far and better laid out

I've just done a build with the colossus case, im no expert but i didnt see any issues with airflow - a fan at the top blowing in, and a fan at the bottom and back blowing air out. with the cpu heatsink fan blowing from front to back.

All temps are low, although ive not done much to stress the components

Nice one fella, couple of questions , would it be worth goign above a 3.1 processor? Would there be an advantage of having a SSD as the boot drive and keeping the other for data ?

Does the board overclock at all ?

No overclocking on that board.

There isnt a higher CPU option on that bundle, there are other bundles but £40-50 more for a 3.4Ghz - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-240-OK&groupid=2833&catid=2512

Also!!

That bundle at £228 seems good value when heres another bundle using the same parts but at £259 - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-234-OK&groupid=2833&catid=2512

Looks good , I would like to play with clocking a bit haven't done it for years, I'll go with the case suggestions and go for the corsair. Not really fussed about the bundles it going to be a bit on going , cash is tight so buy a few bits each month till Christmas could prob push to 600 .

Is there a mini board that over clocks ? And how hard is water cooling never ever done it sounds scary I assume its silent ?

Sorry for all the quite estions just want to make sure when I come to put together it will work

There are loads of Z97 matx boards that will allow you to overclock.

But you will then want to get a K series CPU such as a i5 4690K or Pentium G3258.

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i5-4690K 3.50GHz (Devil's Canyon) Socket LGA1150 Processor - Retail £169.99
1 x Powercolor Radeon R9 270 TurboDUO 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £99.95
1 x Gigabyte Z97M-D3H Intel Z97 (Socket 1150) DDR3 Micro ATX Motherboard £79.99
1 x Corsair Carbide Series Air 240 High Airflow PC Case - Black (CC-9011070-WW) £69.95
1 x TeamGroup Xtreem LV "Frost Edition" 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-21300C11 2666MHz Dual Channel Kit £59.99
1 x Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM (ST1000DM003) HDD £39.95
1 x Pioneer 24x Internal DVR-221LBK DVD Rewriter - OEM £13.49
Total : £542.90 (includes shipping : £8.00).

as for water cooling, do you mean a custom loop or one of those all-in-one coolers like a Corsair H105 which is a simple item to fit and fully sealed.

Thanks , that looks good think I'll add an ssd and looks good to go.

As for the cooler it would just be an all in one , do you think I need it or just go air ?

The case is limited by only allowing coolers of under 120mm in height, so stick to an all-in-one like H105.

Also the tall ram will mean many heatsinks wont fit very well.

Nice one , everyone's been very helpful , the H105 looks Iike what I need. I assume the fans fit to the rear of the case , for some reason I didn't realize watercooled used fans , I blame the whiskey !

So case and ram next week , two more the week after and so on,.
