Hi guys,

I'm looking to get a new phone and I'm a bit confused on what to get.

So my main choices are:
1st - Sony Ericsson Vivaz (220eur aprox)
2nd - HTC Wildfire (240eur aprox)
3rd - Motorola Milestone (310eur aprox)

Now as specs they mostly have almost the same CPU, although Vivaz has the most powerful at 720mhz and PowerSGX graphics though has a Symbian OS.

Wildfire and Milestone have a 550mhz CPU and making the milestone more powerful with a PowerSGX graphics aswell.

I really like both OS's, having a Nokia 6630 Symbian s60 in the past, the only issue I had with it was the annoying lag when the memory gets a bit full (micro SD mainly). I've seen android on my friends' mobiles and rly liked the interface and smoothness though I don't know which to choose as I would really like an all rounder having a gd camera, gd for games, wifi with flash browsing, videos, and applications

I would like to know your suggestions or comments on these 3 mobiles, or if you have something similar to these specs, comments away ;)

Thanks & Regards,
Necron

Hmm, the Defy is nice though getting an update of Android 2.2 next yr. Also d Defy is 340eur ;/ Also I never liked the Blackberry interface and mobile design ;/

Also is there any possible way I could get a Motorola Milestone 2 for under 350eur from a store in d UK or if you know, somewhere else?

Might I also slide the Samsung Galaxy Portal into the equation

It's not a bad phone at all - Not looking like it's going to get any 'official' Android 2.2 upgrades but with a little fiddling there are some cracking custom ROMs out there that do everything Android 2.2 can do :)

800MHz processor too so it's not entirely sluggish

Isn't that the i5700, galaxy Spica?, yeah seems quite a gd phone with a CPU of 800mhz, though the camera has no flash and is just 3.15mp =[ And I also heard that Samsung phones tend to become laggy on new updates (2.1 seems laggy on it - reading reviews)

I've seen the Motorola Milestone in action, and I'm seeming to like its' performance with Android 2.2 (performance improvements and new added features - like apps on microSD!)

Also custom roms require to ROOT the mobile, which voids the warranty, and I wouldn't like that ;/ especially when buying my phone for 300eur and from abroad

don't get a milestone, lovely hardware and build quality, but a slow processor and it only has 256MB of RAM cripple it in comparison to other smartphones these days.

Hmm, yeah maybe you're right, I'm in love with the Milestone 2 but it's so expensive =[ The other alternative is the Motorola Defy (800mhz, 512mb RAM and PowerVrx530 gfx) @ e hefty 350eur

Just another question, are Motorola reliable or what as they're a bit new to the smartphone business are they? I'm buying either the Sony Ericsson Vivaz for 220eur or a great smartphone up to 400eur...

Well I've owned:

Milestone - My 1st Android device. Superb handset and had zero issues.

Galaxy S - 2nd Android handset. Had it replaced 3 times under warranty for various things. Wouldn't touch one again.

Defy - Had it for a month now and love it. Its rooted & over clocked and running at 1.3ghz which could not be easier to do & is stupidly cheap. By far its the most underrated handset on the market currently with top end handset features at half the price.

ManCuBuS, what was wrong with your Galaxy S?

1st handset -
GPS kept losing satellites while I was driving. CPW Replaced

2nd handset -
Wi-Fi would not pick-up any AP's more than about a foot away. CPW Replaced

3rd handset -
GPS would not even find any satellites period. Offered a choice of replacements,

At this point I had a serious moan at Carphone Warehouse who offered me a choice of handsets. I picked the Defy and my contract was reduced to £15 p/m from £30 p/m.

Can i just say, i've got the i5700 and while it works i can't exactly recommend it in today's market. Samsung is simply horrible for support, and on top of that if you actually do want to jump through hoops to do something decent with it then you're forced to install Windows, which is a stupid way to do it. There's a reason almost every other manufacturer does updates OTA.

Ahh that's a real shame. The GPS isn't great on mine either, but it's vastly improved since I've updated the firmware. The wireless range is impressive too. I really love it but sounds like you got a decent deal after that fuss.

Yeah it was a shame because otherwise its a great handset.

Can't honestly say I've missed one thing on it though since I've had this defy. Its pretty much the same spec apart from the screen.

Also mines is now running at 1.4ghz which is good but more importantly it picks up satellites before the software has even finished loading.

Ahh ok, will go for the Defy then, better cpu and stuff :) Thx guys, will let you know, btw does OCing void warranty? Thx and a Happy Christmas to everyone :)!

P.S. Does anyone know online phone shops in the UK or europe that sends to European countries?
