Hi All

I've got my Mini ITX SG06 build completed now, its just lacking a GFX card. I am cooling the CPU with a H50 so that takes a good inch and a half off the space available for a graphics card.

I was looking at the Sapphire 5770 Vapor-X card but i think although it will fit the heat it generates will just hang around in the case annoying me. I also think that the 5770 will be too much for what i need.

I think therefore the 5750 will do me just fine, low power consumption (300w PSU only) and low heat generation. I was looking at the Sapphire 5750 and maybe the PowerColor but the PC one doesnt float my boat.

Only thing im struggling with is the size of the cards, not many reviews have the sizes which is most frustrating.

Does anyone have any recommendations to what card to get or if there is something else i could consider and that will fit? Anything from £100 to £150 is my budget.

It must have at least 1 HDMI and be low power and as quiet as possible :)

I have an SG05, same length and I run an HD5770 with no problems, there's a fair bit of space left over.

The HD5850 will also fit, but you need to attach the power connectors before putting it in the case, and you might also run into PSU problems if you're running the 300W one.

There's a 450W PSU coming soon for the SG05/06 that would make it easily safe with an HD5850. If you're a dab hand with a dremel, you might even fancy your chances of getting an HD5870 Vapor-X in there (the shorter version) but do wait for the better PSU if you attempt this.

I have a 4850 with an updated cooler powercolour play version in a SGO5 and its fine for a media player that can do a spot of gaming. Another benefit is that you also get audio over HDMI as well then and it only cost £40. So I would say a 5750 would be ideal.

Hi

Thanks for all the responses. I think the 5770 range is the max id ever need, will be for HTPC and the most stressful game i play on it will be Eve Online. I was looking at upgrading the PSU if/when it comes out but if the 5770 would run with that (i have X25-V SSD, i3 CPU and only 2gb ram) i cant see me needing it.

The HDMI is needed as i will be using it to view vids/pics and stuff on a TV and the like.

I think id want a bit more powerful than the 4850, but thanks for the info :)

Edit: With the H50 and fan i reckon i lose 2" of space. I'm just gonna measure it again to see the exact room i have spare.

Right, just measured it several times and i have 8.1" from back to the exact front of the fan on the H50.

Ideally i dont want it pressed against it so it seems it might have to be the 5750 i get, most frustrating! I could move the fan over i guess on the H50, that would let me have just under 9"...

Have to have a look to see if Sapphire do a Vapor-X 5750, im looking at that because it seems to be one of the quietest cards around...

To be honest, if the max you'll be doing is Eve then aren't you aiming a bit high? Whatever, will last a while. The 5750 will definitely be enough though. And yes, Sapphire do a Vapour-X version.

Yeah, to be fair you are right. I cant see me ever needing the 5770 and at £150 it was the top end of the budget.

5750 should be plenty for me, so might look into getting that one :)

Least now i know the 5750 will definately fit and should work fine with it!

Ya i saw that, but i think if it becomes an issue i can place another fan to move some air out the side. The SG06 is quite well ventilated so i hope it wont be an issue :)

Given the This Week only and the very little difference in the cards i went for this:

Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 5750 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card

The Vapor-X looks nice but the cooler is quite long and i think it could cause an issue with the H50.

This should arrive Tuesday once its in i will post some pics :)
