Hi folks, I'm way out of sync on the specs of monitors. After going down several rabbit holes with Google I'm confused even more now.

My NEC 24" WMGX3 (13years old) has started to have an issue with one HDMI input providing me with the necessary reasoning to purchase a new monitor :) - not that my other half would agree.

I'm looking for a new gaming monitor between 27" and 32", and since my graphics card is capable of 4k I would assume that's the way to go.

Any suggestions of someone who's recently been in a similar predicament?

Good, then you've looked deeper than ads and barely even previews.:p

Unfortunately 4K gaming monitor situation is still badly WIP.
Especially 32" size just doesn't have real choise and top level monitors.
(have month short of 8 years old 30" 2560x1600 Dell waiting for worthy successor)

In 27/28" there are few choises.
LG has 27" model with good response times/very low overshoot in 27GP950, about DCI-P3 level gamut and true HDMI 2.1.
Though at least some of them have black screen issues with variable refresh rate. (but Nvidia has driver with fix mentioned)
Also that size is just small for 3840x2160 pixels.

Innolux based 28" Gigabyte M28U has also good response times.
But with more overshoot than LG panel and gamut is really just semi wide. Also HDMI 2.1 is half assed and capable to only half of standard's bandwidth.

In 32" size there was supposed to be many monitors available from multiple makers.
But intended AU Optronics panel with very wide AdobeRGB gamut has very mediocre response times from like five years ago and badly delayed paper released monitors might be actually waiting for newer modern response times panel. (AUO has very good 27" 2560x1440 panels)

Then there's actually available Innolux panel based Gigabytes, like M32U.
But it shares sames minuses with 28" model.

Not quite in the same predicament, as i'm upgrading from a MSI MAG321CURV 4K.
But after a lot of reading on here and watching YT vid's, today i ordered the Gigabyte M32U, which should be here on Wednesday.
I'm a bit concerned i'll miss a curved screen, but i'm hoping the extra pic quality will make up for it.

Thanks folks. After much debate i ended up going for the Gigabyte M28U from OCUK. I must say it looks absolutely stunning in 4k with latest games although i was upgrading from 1920x1200 so i suppose it would be! :D

It is a good monitor, I bought one after giving up on the Viewsonic XG320U.
