I'm looking to upgrade my pc reasonably cheaply (£100 - £150 ish) and am after some suggestions. My current spec is as follows:

C2D E6300 1.86GHz
Gigabyte GA_965P_DS3 rev 2.0
4x1 GB PC2-6400
GeForce 7600 GT
450 watt PSU
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro

I'm looking to replace the motherboard any way as the sound has stopped working after a thunderstorm / power cut (I have tried a different set of speakers and reinstalled drivers etc).

I'm not a gamer and am just looking for something that is noticeably quicker than the current setup and has some headroom so that I can drop a new CPU in after a year or two once they get a bit cheaper. With that in mind I'm looking at an AMD solution with integrated graphics eg:

Gigabyte GA-MA785GM-US2H £70

Athlon II X2 Dual Core 245 2.9GHz £51

The GA-MA785GM-US2H has an integrated Radeon HD 4200 how does that compare to my GeForce 7600 GT?

Will this work with my existing bits?

Is there anything you would change?

If you want a cheap upgrade, (I don't know how good an e6300 is) I got everthing in my sig for £190, also theres no need to get the 245, just get the 240. You can just oc a little. Otherwise, just get the best graphics card you can.

This. the board you said wouldnt work with your ddr2 ram mate.
