Hi,

You can probably tell from the title I'm not the most technical of gentleman... I am after a steam box basically... Doesn't need to be brilliant spec wise just small ish to go under the TV. I'm aware of the steam link but wanted something well.... Now...

Is there anything about that is designed for this specifically or is it a case of getting a small pc?

Thanks :)

Hi,

There's some stuff out there that is similar-ish.

Thanks :)

That's what I'd do personally. Could use something like one of these:

YOUR BASKET
1 x Silverstone SST-RVZ01 Raven Mini-ITX - Black £63.95
1 x Cooler Master Elite 120 Advanced Mini-ITX Case - Black £39.95
1 x Xigmatek Octans Mini-ITX Case - Black £35.99
1 x Xigmatek Eris Mini-ITX Case - Black £28.99
Total : £182.98 (includes shipping : £11.75).

That case looks pretty sweet. Tempted to grab one myself for a media pc.

Also;

Hi,i have a ML07,my printer is a HP DJ 1510 SERIES,it will not print,have tried everything,is the printer compatible pls.although it prints on different programmes intermittently,any help appreciated,before i go totally gaga.thanks,regards.

Lol I hate the human race :D.

Hi,

Thanks for the feedback. Not sure i can justify spending so much on a box simply for steam streaming to be honest....I think i'll hold out for the steam link.

Thanks :)

If you have an nVidia 600+ series card you can grab a Pi 2 and use limelight-embedded, it uses nVidias GameStream tech, the same that they use with their Shield line of devices.

I've read recently that certain overclocks make it viable to stream at 1080p @ 60fps (30fps works fine without OC), however you'd probably want to add some heatsinks in that case.

The Pi, an SD card (doesn't need to be fancy, card speed won't affect limelight), the heatsinks, a case and a quality power supply shouldn't set you back any further than £50, then it's up to you what you do peripheral wise.

Yeah the Pi 2 is a great choice, not sure about using heatsinks on a pi though, I used some on my Pi 1 with it overclocked to turbo and they didn't make a particularly big difference. You can get very cheap fans that plug straight into the gpio on eBay, usually about £4 or so, that would probably be a good solution if you don't mind any subsequent noise, though it shouldn't be that loud. Honestly don't know if any cooling solution would be that necessary though really, and I don't know the difference in how much heat the pi 2 gives out compared to the original.
