Hi Guys,

I've been biking for a number of years now, fairly sensibly, but I would like to learn how to do wheelies and stoppies and wanted to get some recommendations for a good all round trainer bike under £1k.

I know there are courses you can go on but I'm in no rush and much rather learn on my own bike at my own pace.

I'm looking at next spring and now is the ideal time to start looking around at used bikes. I'm an average diyer and can handle a fixer-upper project. I'm 5'10" tall and 85kg with a full Cat A license.

Suggestions please.

Thx

bandit 600?

600cc is what I had in mind as it's a big bike and you'll have to learn good throttle control. Most wheelie schools seem to use 1000/1200 which will just power wheelie but thats not what I'm after.
Are bandits fairly robust? ie if you drop it you don't have to replace half of it?
Thats what I need to consider - something quite robust with good parts availability that don't cost the earth.

Any dirt bike with a bit of power? They're light as hell and torque demons. Bare in mind the punishment for wheelying on the road is huge. You can get your license taken off you and have to resit tests amongst other things. If it was accidental you can normally get away with it but down the copper's discretion really.
NO, I won't be doing it on the public highway.
I did think of dirt bikes but as they're so light (the kids in my area wheelie them as well as mopeds) I wanted to bypass them in favour of a proper heavy bike.
