Hi all,

I need suggestions for the following:

When out doing a photo shoot such as a wedding I am going to need to back up my photos on site for peace of mind.

I have a portable 300gb harddrive already.

So, I need something that is cheap as chips, new for reliability and can be used to transfer photos to hardrive via CF card reader.

Maybe with an in car charger too and used for email/internet/office as well.

No photo editing or gaming.

EDIT: ideally windows based as well so I can install software to shoot in tethered mode.

look at Acer 10.1" range, the new 533 or 521 look really promising with AMD processors i think and can be had for les than £250 i think :)

not so sure about the in-car charger so maybe you can look on websites and browe the web for something like that? should be something about now for laptops to charge and be powered in cars :P

I'd go with a CULV dual-core 13.3'' personally. They are powerful, long battery life, no heat problems. Like the Acer 8371, Acer 3810TZ, Asus UL30A, Toshiba T130. Cost a bit more than a netbook, but better all round.

As much as I'd like them its a bit more than I was looking at spending, £300 is about as far as I can go

Well the HP mini 311c looks really good, and can be had for £235-£270, shame OcUK dont sell them anymore.

The Acer AO721 seems good as well, like i said in an earlier post, supports up to 4gb ram, which in a 11.6 inch netbook, i dont think is that bad for a price of sub £300.
