Suggestions of Turned Based Games?

Basically civ4 beyond the sword. I got civ 4 the day it came out 3 and a half years ago, played it far far far too much to consider since (a very unhealthy amount). The older civ's (3 and 2 are also good, 2 over 3 personally).

I didnt like colonization sadly... (same for the total war games)

The XCOM games are awesome fun too!

I think the best turn based game i've played is either Combat Mission, or Hearts of Iron 2, both based on WW2, and both quite involved.

Thanks for all your suggestions, guys and gals!

I have the below games already, although I forgot I had Alpha Centauri with the expansion, might play that again!

Civilization Chronicles I - IV plus the 2 Expansion packs for IV.
Civ4: Colonization
Galactic Civilization II
Alpha Centauri with the expansion Alien Crossfire
Gates of Troy
Total War Eras (Shogun, Rome, Medieval + all have their expansions packs)

What I really was hoping for was that maybe there is another game similar to Civ4 or Alpha that I might have missed, where you can win the game either through conquest, diplomatic or by achieving certain goals, preferably a new game, since I did try Legion and Chariots of War, but found them less fun due to not much interaction.. (For those that don't know, they are made by Slitherine games, who also made Spartan and Gates of Troy <-- both which I enjoy playing).. but as mentioned, the previous games of the same producer was less exciting..

Had a look through the suggested games and the only that seems to be of interest is Master of Orion 2.. As mentioned above I also have all the Total War games, (not Medieval 2 though) but when I tried to install the Shogun it did not want to install for me, I have Win XP Pro SP3, if anyone has any clue how to get around that I might try the Total War games again.. might try and see if I can install the others which I never bothered when Shogun did not work..

Thanks for all the suggestions though.. please fell free to suggest more! :)

Just remember silent storm - a x-com / Jagged alliance kind of affair but set in WW2 period (although mechanised combat suited nazis turn up eventually!)
Unusually for a turn-based it also boasts a full-blown physics engine, with shattering glass and furniture, walls etc.
Which is cool, but also means it runs too slow on my laptop :(

It does run under vista, but you need to get a specific patch and some techy fiddling around - can't remember exactly what though.

Currently playing through XCOM Apocalypse (it can eiether be RTS or turn based) and thoroughly enjoying it - researching the aliens and new technology is very good fun.
