As the title suggests I've got a hard drive that I'd like to wipe. Through a simple google I found several programs that do this but I was wondering if you guys have any reccomendations or suggestions on which one may be best to use.

Thanks

Easiest way to completely wipe a drive is to open up the thing and wipe your fingers on the platters after a messy eating of a takeaway. ;)

I use CopyWipe, you can download it from my site here.

Whack it on a floppy and boot from it.

if i used this to wipe the hard drive would I be able to reinstall windows using the CD Drives or does this delete the drivers that make the cd drives usable?

well i was told that completly wiping the hard drive could mean that the optical drives will not work because it would have deleted drivers off the hard drive. would this be the case?

Windows XP Home btw

Worst that can happen is you totally destroy the MBR. What exactlly do you want to 'wipe' on the hard drive and how 'wiped must it be (missus, mother, CIA) cos there are some good proggies out there that can wipe the free space on your drive.
