Hi,

I want to basically have a website host, so I can create my own sites and so on (mostly using dreamweaver).

I have been wanting to mess around with a site for a while, and pretty much decided to go for it.

I am guessing the storage space wont be much (probablly only a few gigs... but I would prefer at least 10) and the bandwidth I am not really sure on... I suppose the old saying is the more the better.

http://www.qiq.co.uk/technology1.php these guys dont seem to bad. Offering 10 gigs of space, and 100 gigs bandwidth (I assume that is per year?) the one problem is they dont offer a .com address, and only do a .co.uk which I dont really want.

Any suggestions?

*EDIT*

BTW, their package I was looking at is the £30 one, I wouldnt mind paying more though if it is really worth it. Maybe 50 for a year. I dont want to spend to much, since I am just getting my feet wet.

my advice is don't go too cheap

that link you gave points to a company offering an email account for 9.99 a year, as well as 10gig of space. all that webpspace is amazing for 10 quid.

steer clear

people around here reckon dreamhost is ok for large hosting accounts. (US based)

www.ochostreview.co.uk is a compilation of OcUK user experiences at various hosting services. You won't go far wrong with the recommendations (and sometimes the steer clear warnings!) if you follow the reviews on there.

The 9.99 was only for email hosting, it was 29.99 for the webspace and everything else.

I think its because its a virtual server (in other words its shared with other people)

maybe. but whoever built that site only served to confuse people. i've enclose a little screenshot ...

Hmmm...

I am not sure which site to go for at all.

QiQ seems to get OK reviews, the only thing that puts me off is that it seems to have homepage builders built in, I am not sure if it is possible to upload my own webpages or if I have to create them all using its own site builder (which would suck).

Anyone got anymore ideas?

Hello

I use www.1uhosting.co.uk for my personal stuff and they are reasonable and have good support.

I've got one of the business accounts as I do a bit of .net & SQL stuff and they have been very helpful and knowledgable.

They've got a decent package for only £10 per year and another for £30 depending on how big your site is.

Been with them for a year and have had no problems.
