Would be nice to have a couple more threads for photo categories,

Did a search and could not find anything along the lines of "flora" and "abstract" pic threads

Also, personally think it would be nice to have a sub-forum in here where the main photo posting threads live, making them easier to find. Making them all stickies would take up too much space, and would be nice to have them readily available.

Am not suggesting this sub-forum be for all photo posting - just for the main themed threads.
 
You can create your own threads, you don't have to use the photo category ones.

Also, I very much doubt the subforum thing will occur, just search :)

Nope, but personally I feel there's not a real need for it. Surely, you can realise a sub-forum for seven threads is a bit pointless?

The normal way the forum seems to use to maintain popular posts as easily accessible is to have a sticky thread with all the links in. That could probably quite easily be set up, or the links added to the existing stick thread. That said, given that there's links in the OPs of all the [PIC THREAD]s themselves, is there really a need?

On a related note, OP, there is a 'Nature' thread, which would be where flora would go I suspect.

Ah THERE it is.... after using two search words "thread + nature". 5 pages down, knowing exactly what to search for.

Perhaps you've been around long enough to know how to find all these things easily enough, but not all of us have. Didn't even occur to me to look at the first post in other pic threads.

I know this section of the forums has been struggling lately from conversations that have gone on, so I don't see how it could hurt to try to make things more accessible and easier to find. Perhaps it may promote more posting/sharing

I know I can create individual threads, but sometimes what I post I don't deem worth creating a separate thread for...
 
I for one wouldn't like a further separation of sub forums. You will end up with like 2 threads a week in there and it will look and feel dead.
 
Well, if nobody wants their cheese moved, then how about a single sticky containing links to the main themed threads for posting pics.

No separation then, takes up little room, makes them more visible and accessible... I don't see how that could be a problem for anyone...

This is probably the most likely compromise.

Each of the theme topics has a link to each of the other theme topics in the first post.
 
Kevin the whole point they're making is that if you're looking for the nature thread, your first thought is not going to be "I know, I'll check the portrait thread for a link", is it?
 
They evidently are if you're new to the forums, particularly given they often fall off the first page as they're not all particularly active.
