Yes it should be fine, (I presume you are talking about the sg07)
600w psu is more than enough for 1 graphics card.
Enough room for graphics cards up to 310mm and the longest 7870 I could find (HIS HD 7870 ICEQ) is 285mm.

I can get the card in but it and the fan spins up but the monitor does not display anything

Wondered if it was down to the power supply being 600 watt not man enough

I noticed it has an 8 pin and 6 pin where my 6870 had 6 and 6 not sure where the little 2 pin one goes

to be honest I got the card on clearance from ouck, hoping it not a duff card

600w is plenty for a single gpu.
So do you have the 7970 or 7870? The 7870 has two 6 pins and the 7970 has one 6 and one 8 pin. Does the psu only have 2x6 pin connectors?
If that is the case you will have two pins unpopulated and the card will not work. You will have to get a 6 to 8 pin adapter or one may of shipped with the card and I believe that will work.
 
sorry, yes im a fool it is a 7970

my psu does have 2 connectors which have 6+2 twice.
on the 6870 I only used the 6 pin parts of the plugs

I did try it with the 8 and 6 connected but the card would not display
 
yeah using the 6870 again at the moment

theres only one dvi output and 2 hdmi and 2 mini hdmi

will try the hdmi on my tv when i get chance

Hmm.. are you running the latest driver? Let me know how it goes. But don't feel afraid to contact OCUK, they have fab customer service!
