I've got an Xbox360 so don't play games on the PC anymore. As I'm not gonna be having much in the case except for maybe a sound card at a later date I'm thinking about getting a Sugo. Just wondering if the below would fit.

E6400 / Zalman CNPS8000
Asrock Conroe 945G-DVI
2GB Elixir PC5300
Seagate 320GB SATA-II
Pioneer DVR-111D
Corsair HX 520W

I'm trying hard to quieten my Sugo down, it's proving tough. What would be considered quiet or silent under a desk is actually quite loud when sat next to you on the desk.

You'll need to strike up a balance between airflow and noise. If you starve the Sugo of fans you'll run into problems, but if you go too OTT then it'll sound like a dyson.

@Tute :

Silencing a SFF is always gonna be tricky (dunno what it is about the size that makes for more resonant sounds) but easier if you dont use it for gaming like me.

From the reviews the Corsair HX 520W gets a thumbs up as it will run at 22dba loading 300W :)

However for almost dead silent running (hd vibrations will need dampening and alas even a passive PSU will emit some sound from its coils), I'm going to get Silverstone Nighjar passive PSU (no fan) along with the thermaltake sl-120 (again without a fan).

I have seen pics of some guy squeezing the SL-120 into the Sugo on another forum but I feel that going completely silent will have its problems due to too much passive cooling. I might need to switch one of the case fans on or even swap the nightjar for the HX 520 (should suck the heat out of the SL120 along with cooling itself)

I've also looked into AC-DC power blocks like the ones you use for a laptop (ie completely silent external power) but the largest power rating I could find in the UK is 200W which wont power the system in my sig but would maybe power a old shuttle since I do know that its PSU is rated at 200W.

edit : PS Just noticed this in your sig : X1950XTX 512MB GDDR4 | 36GB Raptor
holey moley lose em ! The two alone would probably be more noisy than the rest of the components in your box : I would hazard a guess that a pair of them old seagates(the silent ones from a couple of years back) in RAID0 would still be more silent than the raptor.

Well I have an upgrade list anyway, something along the following lines:

- Swapping my 36GB Raptor for the 150GB edition. Yes they are noisy drives, but when you have 2GB RAM there isn't much swapping. Plus I love the speed of these drives.

- Swapping my CD drive for the Samsung SATA DVDRW. Smaller cable, less clutter, means I can do away with the IDE cable altogether.

- Swapping the PSU for the Corsair HX 520W or 620W. Heard rave reviews about these and the silence they provide. Good build quailty too.

- The cooler is coming off my X1950XTX, and a VF900 is going on there. At the moment it's unacceptable.

- I've got one case fan which I consider noisy, and it an 80mm Akasa Amber. I'm going to have a go at volt modding it, however it's job is to supply the X1950XTX with airflow, so if it drops that too much it's going to have to be replaced, with something quieter.

Ill be interested to see your system temps with this change :s

Good move on the raptor, iirc the 150's produce less noise, have a look at a low speed panaflo fan if your thinking of changing, these things push a huge amount of air and are very low noise :)

ive used 2x Coolink SWiF-801 80mm Case Fans & a Thermaltake Blue Orb II Socket 939/754/775 to keep my sugo quiet and its doing a great job the only noise i get is from my sata2 hdds. fixed to the metal cage so i guess u would get some noise

but apart from that im very happy with my system for now

yea im using a Enermax Liberty 500W and its a nice and quiet psu

but if the Corsair HX 520W ATX2.2 Modular was out at the time i would have gone for that. reviews give it a high rating and an extra 20w for the same price as the Enermax Liberty 500W cant be bad, its also a very quiet psu so the reviews say

im very happy with the Enermax Liberty 500W tho

im just on the look out for a tv card atm and the same VFD Kezmo is using for my last mod of my case :)

i had to mod my Thermaltake Blue Orb II tho as the case cover will not fit back on. nice and simple mod tho just had to file down 1 side of the HSF 2mm or 3mm i for got.

Looks like a Sugo with paint on the internals and a cover with windows.

I don't see why SIlverstone don't just release a windowed side panel for the Sugo. Why make it a whole new case? :(
