Suicide and WoW

I wonder how many of the keyboard warrior kids in this thread would still be saying "natural selection" if they developed mental problems and were suicidal as a result, or if it were a friend or family member of theirs that attempted suicide.

"Things that make you go hmmmmmm."
there's absolutely no way and in absolutely no circumstance i would ever decide that committing suicide is a viable action to ANYTHING, never mind something happening in a video game. i have little sympathy for any human being that does, regardless of if they are a friend of family member.

No sympathy is one thing, mocking is another. Get over yourself.

Besides, who said anything about "viable actions"? If the guy was indeed mentally ill, it's not relevant.

The guys character name was "Girlfriend", thats says enough for me, ive known hundreds of people that sound like this guy in WoW. Lonely teens with an unstable home/school life who get attention in online games and begin to lose touch with the real world.

Sad, but the onyl thing thats special about it is the size of his audience.

Tis quite sad that for some people, aside from sleeping/working/eating, WoW is their life.

I have never played the game & don't intend to - I'm happy with the GTA series tbh.. and would hate to be in the situation where the only thing you've got going for you is some virtual world.

****ing idiot, he should learn that there is more to life than a mere video game. He should get a life, not take one. Pathetic little individual. I hope his parents give him a right talking to for being such a scrote.

Very stupid thing to say. You probably have no idea what things like depression can do to you. You can think absolutely anything given the right circumstances and chemical balance in your brain...etc. You're not some kind of super human that is immune to it.

Pft, he'd just cure his depression and/or anxiety by hitting himself with his keyboard. ;)

In this whole game scenario it seems rather OTT, however look at it from the standpoint that maybe your life contains nothing stable or happy.. the only thing that might keep you together could be your job..

you lose that job, then you will probably have a breakdown.

a game isnt the same, but when someone lets it dominate their lives to the point where stability depends on it, breaking that connection is going to cause a big stir in someones mentality

Yes, because people that are ill are to blame for they're illness. Scrote.

I think the general opinion was it wasn't just the computer game, Like has been said already, in a lot of cases the final act that causes people to lose it doesn't tend to be the underlying problem that would have caused him to do this anyway. It could have easily been something else to tip him over the edge.

It's more worrying to me how narrow minded people are on here and how they are quick to make throw away comments without thinking about things. Kinda like society itself nowa days, thats the ultimately sad thing IMO.

The throwaway comments about suicide are whats most worrying here.

I havent considered suicide personally, but the act of deciding to end your life is not something that should be mocked.

Its sad that people resort to such things. circumstances developing to the point that being dead is the only option that a person sees is pretty upsetting

Whole thing happened on the internetz anyway so its prolly all fake. Just another fake e-drama.....

Like anything addictive that takes you out of reality wow can bring on depression, mmo's (the good ones ;) ) are the new heroin.

How old was the kid? Maybe his parients shouldnt have let him get so involved. Parients who dont talk to their kids should be shot.
