As above.

Given my current house situation, I'll be getting BT infinity at my property but one tenant is not playing ball very well with the rest of the occupants.

So are there capable routers which have the ability to throttle bandwidth on a lan port or mac address or anything like that?

I'm on BT infinity with a Fritzbox 7490 and I can disable specific LAN ports:

Can the Fritzbox restrict mac address or ports to a specific speed?

I bought a Draytek 2860n for this exact reason. At the time we had a 14mbps connection and with 5 people in the house, two watching Netflix, three gaming it was getting a little difficult for me to play online without some serious lag.

With the draytek you can assign Static IPs by mac address and then setup bandwidth profiles. I ended up setting myself a static ip of 192.168.1.10 and then starting the DHCP pool at 192.168.1.20.

Then I created a bandwidth profile for 10mbps that was to be shared on every ip from 192.168.1.20. Leaving me with at least 4mpbs to play with no matter what anyone else was doing. So far it seems to work very well.

You can also configure QoS type priorities to different type of traffic based on ports I think it is. While a little on the expensive side, I am very happy with it.

Thanks for the info, it sound like what I need but as above, can i restrict a mac address to an exact speed and bandwidith?
