We’re now a few days through April and the weather seems to be perking up finally. Seems a good time to start the summer thread.

I’ve been thoroughly depressed at this winter. It’s gone on forever. Just when you thought we were over the worst, along came another beast to depress us sun lovers again. Nice to see change finally in the air.

Hopefully the weather gods will reward us for the bleak winter with a long hot summer. I’m not up on reading weather charts and the like, so hopefully our amateur forecasters (I’m looking at you Rroff), will be along soon to bring us some good news or just depress us even more.

Here’s to cool lager, beer gardens, bbq’s, salads, sunburn, people whinging that it’s too hot and hellish public transport.

I suffer from severe adult eczema (one of the most acute cases my consultant dermatologist has ever seen in all his years), and one of my many medications forbids it.

Last Summer I forgot, and walked down the local shop in shorts, within half an hour of getting back the bottom half of my legs that were exposed to the sun (from my knees to my socks) had turned bright red, swollen up and started to ooze.

I'm on a medication like that. It's called Amiodarone. I can only go in the sun for short periods. Too long and I get very sore and my skin goes a mottled blue and bloats up terribly. I like just sitting in the nice warm shade. Never really liked sitting bang in the sun for long periods.
