Summer Build - First Time - Spec me please

So I'm going to get a job over summer and work almost full time over it. (Hopefully).
I hope to earn near to £1000.
So basically I was hoping a few of you could spec me up a build.
I will need everything except for keyboard + mouse + OS + monitor.
I was looking around on the site and see that the 6-core intel is around 800-900 pounds. Whereas the AMD 6-core is around 250. This is an insane price drop. I understand intel has hyper threading etc. But how does the 6-core AMD compare to the intel.
I will use this computer mainly for gaming, browsing, social networking etc.
I have a 22" 1920 x 1080 monitor so thats fine.
Also in terms of ATI vs nVidia. To me I think ATI's cards are far superior however nVidia uses PhysX. Would you be able to get an ATI with a nVidia PhysX card in it too, within the budget?
This is obviously not essential but a nice touch.

Also as I plan to keep working after summer I will eventually upgrade, so dual GPU's + a good case for good fan slots + potentially even water cooling.

sorry for the long post.
thanks :).
and hi btw im new :P

Edit:
Just thought I'd add too. My father seems to think that AMD processors are better for gaming but they get hot quite easily. The black edition 6-core looks very appealing to me. As its over-clockable but how hot does it get?
Sorry for so many questions, I just want to make sure everything is good when I order the components.

Edit (2):
Just thought I'd tell you what my current system is. (None of it is overclocked in anyway)
P4 @ 3.2GHz (has HT)
2 x 512MB RAM
the mobo is a shuttle specific one, i don't know its name.
6600GT 256MB gfx card.
that's it basically. So any upgrade I will probably see a huge difference.

Edit (3):
Here's what I specced myself. Please comment and say how good/bad this is or how I can improve. Thanks.

physX is a waste of time, unless you can buy a second hand Nvidia card such as a 8800GT for £40, dont buy a new card just for this feature.

And unless your doing lots of encoding and other heavy cpu/multi-thread tasks a quad core will be fine.

here a comparision of the 955BE vs 1090T which is £100more- http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/88?vs=146

That motherboard will do crossfire, so adding an extra card will be simple, it also has SATA and USB3.0

heres a review of the awesome Antec psu- http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/psus/2010/02/22/600-700w-psu-review-round-up/7

and this shows the power draw of crossfire cards- http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/graphics/2009/11/24/multi-gpu-round-up/8

Thanks a lot for the quick reply. I like the look of that build. And your probably right I probably wouldn't utilise 6-cores. And in the comparisons it isn't that much better than the X4.
How about the AMD vs Intel issue.
How does the i7 920 compare to its AMD counterpart?
It's just intel seem to be so much more expensive, for a product that changes its slots every couple of years and has hyper threading.

six cores.

Nvidia 470, so you get PhysX

60gb SSd

the motherboard has SATA and USB3.0, but not crossfire, this doesn't matter with nvidia cards.

For gaming the 920 is better than the 955BE but there isnt much in it so just depends in your willing to pay extra, the reason I would personally stick with AMD is cause intel is going to change its stock next year so if u want to upgrade it would be a new mobo+CPU and maybe ram no idea about the ram thou XD.

I would go with stulids AMD build and maybe stick a heat sink on it since the AMD ones are quite loud.

Now you've gone and confused me! 3 Very good builds. Thanks for being so helpful btw.

Yeah I will probably get a H50 as I hear good things about them.

Yeah I agree I like the first build you put up. However as it is 140 pound below budget, I would probably swap that case for a better one + a H50.

there was a reason it had a cheaper case, my first spec i put up had a copy of windows in it, but i ninja edited it, and didnt spend the extra on upgrading the case.

you cant go wrong with the same coolermaster as in the other pics

Alright. Thanks a lot, I think this thread is done. I think I have my heart set on that build. Obviously in roughly 2 months when I have my money things might have changed and I'll probably post again before ordering.
Thanks a lot for your help.
