I'm off to France and Italy in August so will need some lightweight and cool textile trousers. My current textiles (Triumph Garrett) don't have a removable thermal lining and my Hood jeans are absolutely baking when I'm not riding.

Anyone got any suggestions for some trousers that'll keep my legs cool when walking around the place, but protected when riding at 70mph on the bike.

I've been looking at some "BMW Summer 3 pants", which seem quite good, does anyone have any experience with them?

Any other suggestions for lightweight summer trousers?

I just wore jeans and boots when I went out there, didnt plan to ride without my textiles on but it was so hot every day I was just sweating too much.

I'd happily do the same again, I was mainly on twisty mountain roads so speeds weren't high, probably more chance of me dropping the bike though!

Hoods for the longer journeys are fine, but when you're biking from a campsite to the town centre for a bit of tourism or walking around a museum all day, the heavy jeans can get really hot and uncomfortable. I did it last year too, so this year I'm hoping to get something more lightweight!

You can get kevlar lined cargos, but I don't know how much cooler than the jeans they will be. Unfortunately it does seem that protection=heat when it comes to bike clothing.

I'm in the same boat, heading to Austria, and maybe down into Italy next week. I'm just going to take my Hood jeans as I haven't found anything more suitable :/
