Summer Transfer Window 2021/2022

He can, but he's more of a number 10, playmaking with the ball on the ground and running off a striker, dropping into the midfield to control possession, that type of stuff. We need someone who's physical like Bamford and can keep Bamford on his toes.

Gelhardt and Greenwood ;)

Both 18/19. We can't go into next season with Bamford and couple of teenagers as backup.

Bamford did well this season, no doubt about it, but there is no guarantees he replicates it again.

Lol, we played with a rookie keeper all season, Strujik in defence etc. Bielsa plays kids, you saw what happened when we brought in Nketiah, no one will play second fiddle.

They did great in the PL2, deserve a chance

Whats so lol though? Hardly a contentious opinion to suggest Bamford and couple of teenagers isn't going to be sufficient if we want to break into the top 8.

Also, Meslier is superstar in the making, that's a bit different, he'll be off to PSG in a couple of years. Its harder to score and create, so going into the 2nd season in PL with Bamford and couple of teenagers is absolutely asking for it i think.

Meslier is a superstar in the making because he was given the opportunity, mainly because Kiko is a racist idiot. I don't see why in this day and age why we can't use two young strikers who also had the potential of Meslier? Gelhardt was wanting by a whole host of clubs.

I wasn't lolling at you, more that you should know Bielsa will always give the youngsters a chance. I don't think we will have lots to spend tbh.

Sure, i know Bielsa plays youngsters, but he wouldn't play 11 kids. There is a limit at the end of the day, experience does count for something. If Leeds could grap Tammy Abraham for example, i'd prefer him and Bamford

Yeah but he won't play the way Bielsa wants hence why it's difficult to get anyone in that will play second fiddle. The youngsters are at least well versed on what is expected and won PL2! Anyway, lets allow this thread to get back on track :)

Konate to Liverpool is picking up pace it seems.

We're going to end up with too many center backs at this rate ha.

Dijk and Gomez will surely be first choice still. Matip being main back up when fit .

If we sign kabak then it's him and Philips for 4th choice I'd say with Williams being 5th. Davies I think we have bought to sell on as didn't manage a single minute since we bought him

I can't see us signing Kabak, thought he improved massively for us but he's not worth £18 million.

VVD, Konate/Gomez/Matip, Phillips and Fabinho will probably be the CB options we go in to next season with although Phillips value has probably increased quite a lot so he could be sold.

Williams has no future with us imo. Other than making up the numbers, it's hard to see what qualities he brings to the team.

Thought that was already pretty much a done deal?

Remains to be seen how VvD comes back from this injury and defences are tricky things. One player can look world class next to the right player and average elsewhere. Liverpool probably don't want to be in a position where they are caught short if VvD doesn't come back the same player and your other options aren't performing at the same level. Gomez and Matip have both been suspect at various points so not a bad idea to have some backup/competition.

Don’t sign Kabak, sell Matip, Williams out on loan to a championship club. We’ll have Konaté, VVD, Gomez and Phillips with Fab at a push if needed. Four CB’s should be plenty, I doubt we will have such long term, serious injuries affecting a single position as we’ve had this season.

I'd say sign Kabak as I think there is potential there and alongside Dijk etc it would improve him imo. sell Matip as he is made of glass however Matip is very good when he does play so it's tough

Can we please stop calling VVD, Dijk. It sounds awful!

And to everybody saying sell Matip, can one of you tell me who is going to sign a soon to be 30 year old CB earning £100k+ per week that's just spent the past season injured? He'll not be going anywhere.

We're not going to be signing Kabak, certainly not for anything like the £18m agreed. He's not good enough. He won't play ahead of VVD, Gomez and Konate, and if he's fit (and hopefully being 4th choice he'll be fit more often than not) Matip too. Spending £18m on a player that's not likely to make the bench most weeks, let alone play doesn't make sense. If the club decide they need a 5th CB then rather than spend £18m on somebody that's not good enough, spend nothing and keep Phillips and or Davies.

The only way in which Kabak had potential was his age and that he was relatively pacey. He looked very rash at times and as good as Klopp and his coaches are it can take a long time to train that out of a player. He played like the CBs you were trying to get away from when Klopp came in.

Bit worried that we're buying another injury prone player in Konate but I guess the medical team have done their work and would know if theres issues there

I'm worried too. Don't mind the knocks he's picked up but the muscle injuries are a big concern, especially with how intense our training appears to be.

Ticks the right boxes in terms of height, pace and ability but we can't afford to sign another friend for Matip in the physio room.

Yeah, it worries me that he has barely managed 20 games in a season, for 3 of his last 4 seasons. Tbh, if I could choose, my choice would have been Kounde or Botman but maybe Kounde is too pricey and Botman too inexperienced or hard to get due to only signing for Lille last summer (though I love the idea of Botman and VVD forming a Dutch CB partnership), but I'd have liked one of those two.

I would have thought Kabak would been signed to fill Lovrens spot. Our biggest issue will be making sure VVD,Gomez and Matip come back from their injuries to their previous form so to speak.
