Summer Transfer Window 2021/2022

You are way off the mark here. There is always money available in football.

Our players are under contract, clubs want to buy them, they pay the price we set, unless there is a release clause.. Just like these transfers below.

Maguire £80m
Mahrez £62m
Chillwell £50m

Personally, I hope Liverpool has the same opinion as yourself. Would love if Tielemans signs a new deal at Leicester.
Way off the mark about there being less money available? Serie A tv rights have decreased by some 20%, Ligue 1's main domestic tv rights have dropped from €814m per year down to €275m per year and could be hit even further with Canal+ trying to get out of their agreement for the remaining rights. You then have the small matter of 18 months with no crowds and clubs repaying broadcasters from last season (which they just kicked down the road and will pay it from this coming season). Football across Europe has taken an absolute battering over the past 18 months. Even the very biggest clubs in Europe are broke right now with clubs like Barca desperately scrambling around to find enough money to keep Messi. There will still be some clubs with money to spend but very few outside of the PL and a lot of European clubs desperate to sell. It makes very little sense to pay a premium for somebody like Tielemans when there will be players available in France, Spain & Germany for half the price.

As for your 2nd point, I literally said that  Unless Tielemans has a fairly modest release clause then I can't see him leaving and certainly not to Liverpool. I'd be stunned if we paid £50m+ for him. As I said in the post you quoted, I completely understand why Leicester wouldn't sell unless somebody paid a huge fee but the only way somebody would be if a City or Utd set their sights on specifically him and just paid whatever it took.

I wouldn't. If we're going to buy a forward this summer then sign one that won't simply be cover for the front 3 but can also replace one of them long term. Abraham will never be good enough to play regularly for us.

I wouldnt replace one of the front three with Abraham as such, I'd see him more as a replacement for Origi. An option to bring on to give something a little different. I hated this season that we had nothing really to come on off the bench when Jota wasnt around. Finding someone who is a proven goalscorer who is willing to not be a permanent first 11 player is pretty tough but I think that Abraham can score goals (30 goals in his last 2 premier league seasons) and wouldnt be throwing his toys out of the pram about being a squad player rather than a starter necessarily.

Yea, I guessed that you were signing him as a squad player rather than a starter. My point is that we shouldn't be limiting our Origi replacement to somebody that will only be good enough to sit on the bench. Replace Origi, just replace him with somebody better and more importantly, somebody that has the potential of also replacing Mane or Firmino in 18 months too, even if that player costs you £10-20m more than Abraham might.

I'd also quetion whether Abraham would be happy to join a club where he would be sat on the bench 80% of the time.

I reckon he would and at only 23 theres still plenty of time for him to develop into a replacement for the front 3 even, just look at the advances players have made who have joined us and he already has a better goalscoring record than Jota and is younger. I'd like us to sign a top drawer player to replace one of the front three but I simply do not see that happening, not this summer at least.

Bit confused why we haven't tried to get a lower price on Sancho.

Didn't exactly set the euros alight. When a 19 year old gets picked ahead of him its a bit odd...

Maybe he wasn't getting played because he spent the entire campaign on the phone to his agent sorting out his transfer? :p

We did get quite a large discount on what Dortmund were asking last summer and I can't believe you are basing the value of a player on whether the idiot Southgate played them much in the Euros. Grealish, Foden, Rashford, Sancho and Bellingham all played very few minutes considering their talent. The man left TAA at home for gods sake.

Sir Gareth Southgate, to be fair he was only copying Ole's gameplan from last season.

He was injured :p

I thought he was injured in so far as he would miss the start of the tournament, not the whole thing. We always take injured players if they are good enough and likely to be able to feature.

Indeed, a heady cocktail of negative tactics and unwillingness to make positive changes to the personnel for fear of losing. To be fair to Southgate, his plan worked. People still think he is the messiah who masterminded a Euros campaign that took a bunch of rag tag nobodies past the best Europe has to offer and then just stumbled at the last due to bad luck. I'm quite astounded how little flack he has got.

Pretty much this. Sancho is highly rated by almost everyone, I have high hopes for him!

I'd love it if we got Varane, he's not perfect but he's a capable elite level defender. We're going to need experienced players to offset Ole's dodginess and get us over the line in competitions...

Nah he was going to be out for weeks

Ahh OK.

The Germans were all very bemused as to why Sancho barely got a sniff in the team.

And with regards to Varane, I think he would improve us but the best we can hope for in the next few years is perhaps a EL or one of the domestic cups. I think a lot of United fans are going to get a bit of a rude awakening this season. Liverpool and Chelsea will be back to normal and City will be good as usual. I think we will be struggling for top 4 come the end of the season.

We will be challenging for the title or Ole will be finished at the end of the season. If Varane does come in and we get a CDM and do not then it will be a failure.

Messi's signed for Barca till 2026 lol.
Makes no sense.
He probably demanded that length. If he’s taking a wage cut but will still be on nearly 500k a week, makes sense for him to guarantee it for as long as possible.

He could fall off a cliff next season and still be guaranteed that income.
