Summer Transfer Window 2021/2022

He joined United the summer after they had won the league for the 8th time in 12 years, he joined Real after they had won the league 2 out of the 3 previous seasons and he joined Juventus after they had won their 7th consecutive title. Not sure what your idea of dragging a team across the finishing line is but that looks very much like joining teams at the height of their success.
I guess his performances at Juventus and Portugal spring to mind, but I'm going to refrain from turning this into a Messi v Ronaldo thread like we've seen before! :)

Can't blame Aguero for wanting out from the mess that is Barcelona, but he must have known what he was getting himself into to some degree surely!?

No doubt he’d spoken to Lionel and discussed the move with him at great length, they’re good friends apparently. It should also be remembered that Messi was ready to sign, Barca just couldn’t accept the contract under current La Liga financial rules and had no choice but to not sign him.

Lukaku back to Chelsea for £97.5m, looks like Utd get £30m

Interesting bit of business, he should be better than what he was at Utd.
Maybe, he's always good against average to bad teams and goes missing against the big guns. Bit fo a flat track bully. I've not followed him at Inter, but i'm assuming that as 90% of the league is average that's why he did well? Happy to stand corrected on that of course, but hopefully his feet turn into butter/pinball bumpers again when playing us! :D

Nice wedge for us too!

The main issue you have with Lukaku is his big game performances and he is by all accounts mentally a bit fragile. He needs to feel like he is loved and valued and one of the "big dogs" at the club. At United he wasn't particularly loved and he was out of shape. The very minimum I expect of a well payed footballer is that they are in good shape to perform to their best. He was never fat, he was just far too bulky and yet didn't bully defenders as much as you would expect from someone of his size.

Good player but never going to be a striker that English fans love and thats a huge price tag for a somewhat limited striker. His stats are good but I just never really enjoyed watching him play.

r.e. the sell on clause, its either 5% of any profit they make on him or 5% of any sale (I would imagine the latter) so a max of ~5m for United.

Lukaku has always been a big guy who can bully defences. He has never been a magical player and why he ends up going missing in big games where players will not get bullied by him leaving you an average centre forward.

97 million quid?! Has he learnt a first touch since he got to Inter or something!?

The ultimate flat track bully, loves a brace against West Brom or Palace see where he is in a CL game V Bayern or PSG they'll need to call the police to file a missing persons report.

I believe his general stats are quite similar to when he was at United. He just takes all of their penalties now at Inter so his stats are a bit more padded. Hes still the same player he was. Hes lost a bit of bulk but I think Chelsea will regret paying ~100m for him.

I can see Lukaku banging them in at Chelsea. The price reflects the lack of top class youngish 9s around at the moment and Lukaku obviously isn't a 100m player, but he's very good and will get tons of chances. Hugely improved his movement since leaving United

I don't understand why clubs are looking at the likes of Kane and Lukaku for so much when you can have Haaland for not much more.

Haalaand would be allot more let's not be daft. There looking at kane as he has a proven track record.

I don't see lukaku being a success at Chelsea anyway, don't see him suiting there style of play either.
