Summer Transfer Window 2021/2022

I don't think Arsenal have had that terrible a transfer window, certainly not as bad as some people are suggesting anyway. I think what we're seeing is Arsenal paying for and trying to reverse the mistakes of the last few seasons. They tried the short term plan with your Willian's and Luiz's and it's backfired. They've got underperforming, ageing players on big contracts who they're stuck with.

When looking at Arsenal's signings you need to look at the situation the club find themselves in right now. Odegaard, Ramsdale and White aren't the finishing touches to a side that are expected to challenge for major honours. They're putting together a nucleus of a squad which they can build on in the future. I can't comment on Ramsdale as I've not seen him enough but White is a very good CB and Odegaard is a very talented player too - they're not going to transform Arsenal and without better players around them they might struggle from time to time but Arsenal aren't in a position to make transformative signings right now. The key for Arsenal will now be to get back into Europe with this group and then build on this platform, signing an aerially dominant CB to partner White, a dominant CM (maybe that's Partey) to play behind Odegaard, Smith Rowe, Saka etc and sign a long term replacement for Aubameyang.

man utds average age is 25.8

arsenals is now 23.3

youngest squad in the league this season closely followed by brentford

Utd are 7th

Premier League - Average age of formation | Transfermarkt

Arsenal's starting eleven younger than United's? Squads can easily be skewed by old keepers. I know last year we had the youngest squad in the league and we finished second so that must be the goal for Arsenal this season.

Also your list includes average age of players used so far. Not the full picture. De Gea is 6 years older than Henderson who is our number 1. Also Rashford is injured who is 23.

Our front three in a decent shape would be Rashford on the left, Greenwood down the middle and Sancho on the right. That's 23, 19 and 21. Arsenal's front three is not that age.

why you just comparing front 3?

leno 29

tierney 24
White 23
Gabriel 23
Bellerin 26

partey 28
Odegaard 22
Smith rowe 21

aubameyang 32
Saka 19
Martinelli 20

Swop one of em for pepe 26

Arsenals defence/midfield is easily younger than utds

utds cb pairing are 28 a piece
Utds cm are 28 and 26

It really doesnt matter who has younger squad i simply stated arsenals policy now is clearly long term as every signing this window is under 23 and for some reason it turned into an age debate :o:o

Arsenal fans are using the young squad as an excuse of the rebuilding that is meant to be happening. What I am trying to say is United was still able to compete even with a very young squad.

and who says we dont do anything this season weve played one game.

We had the 3rd best defensive record last season

problem was we couldn't score goals

granted we haven't signed a striker but maybe, and i stress maybe auba will find his striking boots again

Yes, that massive sample size of one game, well done. I guess Arsenal fans need to find something they can be competitive at

when you comment without looking at the data properly

there was a nice little tab at the top saying "average age of squad"

you click that and it paints the same picture ;)

Yes but it only samples from what is available and has been used. Arsenal's current average age is low because their star strikers cannot be bothered to play and they are having to play kids instead. Your best forward players are 30 and 32 but it is all being made out to be that it is a young squad looking to the future when in reality Man Utd who are competing at the other end of the table have a squad of similar age.

What a stupid bloody argument

I don’t even know why the Utd fans made an issue of it so much.

It's not an issue. The issue is Arteta is using it as a facade to somehow explain why Arsenal have been terrible. "Young squad, trust the process etc" yet Manchester United with an equally young squad are fairing far better and you can see the direction from it.

Maybe, but as far as transfer activity goes, yes we may have been able to spend the money better, but I’m just glad we’re buying younger players now instead of old reject has beens looking for a pension.

It’s a much better foundation to build from and if Arteta does fall on his sword, I think it makes the job a lot more appealing for top managers like Brendan Rogers if he has a solid foundation for the future rather than a bunch of egotistical geriatrics.

Odegaard is very good pals with Haaland. He should have a word in his shell like :p
