Summer Transfer Window 2021/2022

Given how complex contracts are for major players, I'd be surprised if this came out of the blue. I read something a long time ago regarding a new contract for Beckham during his Utd days and the level of details clubs need to go into with things like image rights. Utd literally had to document every single item of Beckham branded merchandise they had sold and what they expected to sell to justify how much they could pay him for his image rights and how much would be his salary.

Does Ronaldo just want to do the opposite of what Messi is doing? Instead of leaving the club that made him, he goes back to it for one last rodeo.

They really arent comparable. Messi gave Barcelona, the club that made him his best years, 17 of them to be exact, Ronaldo ditched United and has come back at 36.

Ronaldo has actually went for the challenge rather than the easy route that Messi has taken (done the same when he ditched united to go to Madrid as well, arguably anyway). I’m still a bit annoyed that Messi didn’t step up and come to the premier league. Utd paying Ronaldo £25m per year (I’m sure that’s what I seen) in wages surely they could have done the same or go a bit more for Messi. Imagine Messi going to Utd and dragging them to a league title.

Not sure its quite that simple. Some players love a club and want to play their entire careers there. I think Messi would have done that if he could (lets not get into whether he could). He obviously has an ego but a different kind to Ronaldo. I don't think he would care if he never played for another team whereas Ronaldo left a sinking ship at the right time at RM to try the Italian league and now he has come back to United for one last pay day and to try and win the CL or PL one last time.

Ronaldo is much better suited to United than Messi. We need someone in the box who can win/ score headers.

For sure. I don't think hes a great signing for us but I would love to be wrong. He does however fit into the existing squad far better than Messi.

I don't think it's a transfer that Ole wanted but one that had to be made/ attempted once Ronaldo was available. Imagine the backslash if he ended up in City and help them win PL/ CL.

We'll have to wait and see how it pans out but at least fits into the system and even at his age he is still one of the best players in the world.

I think Ole would have 100% wanted him.

He’s under pressure to deliver this season, he knows Ronaldo well, and he’s pretty much the best striker in the world when he’s on form (which despite his age, he usually is).

If we can somehow get in a defensive midfielder it would be incredible. No sign of that though…

Not convinced. Ronaldo is all about Ronaldo and won't care one bit if his sideshow is a detriment to the team. That was the problem with Rooney in his final years at United. He was such a big name and had been such a big player for us that he wasn't droppable and he always wanted to be the centre of everything even though he was bringing the whole team down.

Time will tell but I don't think this is quite the genius move some people have it down as. Then again I am a massive pessimist when it comes to United and Ole. I still don't think we will win anything serious with him in charge no matter the team.

I'd rather be at your state then arsenal.

Seriously I don't get all the hate from ole and United.

They finished 2nd last season.

Did way better than Liverpool

My concern is that whilst he may help us score more goals we’ll still be conceding them and getting bossed in midfield. Unless Varane is somehow a supreme overlord in defence who rescues us out of bad places. If we’re serious about winning a trophy this season we’ll need to sort that midfield position out. Is McSauce injured? Even if he isn’t we need an improvement on him... not to mention Fred and Static.

Pool had an off season and will be back. Chelsea look like a force. Even with our new additions we’re not as complete as either of those two teams.

The two good things Ronaldo brings are hopefully a mood boost within the squad (unless he causes issues...) and fear in opponents.

Way better? We had an injury list that was absolutely insane and used 16 different CB partnerships which included using our best midfielders in cb whilst our others got injured.

United finished 5 points ahead of us. 5 points.

Never understood this perspective. It doesn't take into context the other teams having off seasons and that we didn't actually win anything or play well. Arsenal came second in 15/16 it didn't mean they were any good.

Ole's United are a team without a tactical DNA and it shows in their inability to play with any consistency and relying on individual moments.

Diddnt united also finish 2nd or 3rd in 2019?
