Jeez we're now after Ross Barkley and Idrissa Gana.
I do think the McNeil signing is a massive gamble tbh.

Looked atIt's always been the case, you can love two things but Ronaldo will always love himself above everything else. It's part of the reason he's made it as far as he has but it does have it's downsides.
Laurie Whitwell has linked us with Benjamin Sesko now. Romano mentioned he was a player we had looked at before but that could be a possible replacement striker. He's very raw though.
I expect him to be professional……You can't force CR7 to stay and expect him to play well.
As soon as he told us we should have accepted it, told his agent we want £10m and to quietly go find a club for him and just get it done.
Then we could plan ahead and buy accordingly rather than wait until the end of pre season and the have a fracas. It's completely amateur.
And if our sponsors are putting pressure. Tell them to do one, we are a football club and commercial money maker second. Time we remembered that. And cameras panning to the bench or stadium to see CR7s angry face every week won't bring positive press anyway.
I expect him to be professional……
I know it isnt all about stats but 7 goals in 140 odd games for an attacking player is frightening. One assist and 0 goals in 38 games last season. You're right, it is a massive gamble.
As said numerous times, the club has been ruined by poor decisions from the owner and his fat pie eating mate Kenwright.

Ouch.
He's arguably the worlds greatest ever player in his twilight years. He's the epitome of the generation that's being left behind by the best sides (it's now the eleven over the individual)..
He isn't changing what's worked for him his entire career... he wants to go get his last remaining stats which United can't offer him.
United took a ridiculous gamble last year and it's backfired... let him go and just move on.

Not a case of just letting him go, nobody wants him.

And the thing is if we had said at the start, find a club who will meet the arrangements.
If he couldn't then he would have to accept he would stay and it would show him we we ameniable to him.
Rather than try and hold him hostage and habe apublic to and fro-ing.
It just shows how little we have in the nouse department at the club as now it will be a big fiasco and protracted.
Is there actually any reason to think this didn't happen though? And the thing is if we had said at the start, find a club who will meet the arrangements.
Cucurella has apparently handed in a transfer request. I hope we stay firm on our asking price though (minus any bonuses he’d be forgoing).
I thought he was happy in Brighton but I do understand his desire to win things. Hopefully he doesn’t throw a strop if he doesn’t leave!
I kinda thought he’d wait a year and go back to Barca, maybe he realised they might not exist in a year .I can understand it to be fair. He's apparently on around 20k a week so financially it makes sense for him to request a move.
If he REALLY wanted a last CL run then he could take a proper wage cut, not just lolwages down to slightly less lolwages. Mans worth over half a billion, not like he needs it. Total scroat.
I’m not sure that last part is entirely true. If we had CL football, he wouldn’t have done this. Same for the second year. Then he would have buggered off somewhere else and that’d have been that.Exactly. He could play for 50p/week if he really wanted to. But he doesn't. Because his ego wants to be on the biggest salary at whatever club he goes to. This is one of the reasons I didn't want him back. There was never a good ending to the story no matter what happened.
