Summer Transfer Window 22/23

Casimero is a good dm for sure but like others have said he needs others around him. He certainly isn't a FDJ alternative but he's a player in a position United have needed for a while. Perhaps they could have gone for a Sangare instead maybe who knows.

I mean Rabiot was strongly linked last week...i know which player id prefer.

Another big player whos form will dip at utd
As if casemiro is going to agree to going to utd

Hm. Let’s see.

Ideally we want a playmaker to go alongside him, but if Fred can up his game, Bruno and Eriksen should be able to provide that outlet and Fred can be box to box with Casemiro keeping things secure.

We’ve been crying out for a defensive midfielder since Keane (and to a lesser extent Carrick). Matic didn’t work and had been on the decline prior to joining.

We certainly shouldn’t be above signing one of the best defensive midfielders in the world from Real Madrid. Short term solutions are OK within reason otherwise the club will fall apart even more and ETH will get the boot. You can’t just neatly bed in youngsters under the kind of scrutiny you get at Man Utd. It’s global breaking news every bloody day at the moment.

The last week of the transfer window is not the time to draw up long term transfer plans. We've made a mess of it already and now it's salvage mode.

I see Casemiro as taking Pogba's place in the squad, a far more useful player with a defined role.

People love to go on about the wage bill but that isn't our main problem. Regardless of the wages, our planning is awful.

Worth pointing out that Man City have got KDB on a huge new contract until 2025. He's 31 at the moment.

The issue isn't so much with high wages, its taking gambles on high wages. I don't think that City or Liverpool have brought in many players on immediately massive wages until the likes of Haaland arrived.

Its not the actual amounts, its the implications for the future if those signings don't work out. If you have a fantastic player who is delivering and vital to the team, go for it, pay them a fat salary. Bringing in a 37 year old Ronaldo on insane wages for 2 years was silly. Time will tell if paying a large wage to a DM that is coming into a mess of a squad and who is getting on in years is a good idea.

Up to a point, I think that we have too many players who think they know best and don't want to learn or change. Adding another older player who has won everything to that isn't a good idea IMO.

Players will always get a big wage rise when joining us. Our revenue is 2-3x the revenue of the clubs we're purchasing from (in the case of Martinez and Malacia) and in the case of someone like Casemiro that's what we need to offer to attract the best right now.
He's coming from Real, plus Utd seemed to think 200k was too much for Rabiot but then fly in with giving Casemiro double his current wages which is loads more than what was too much for Rabiot.

Yes he's a far better player but it just looks like they are making it up as they go along and have no idea what they are doing.

Did you read the second part of the bit you quoted?

And yes Casemiro is far better than Rabiot so obviously we're happy to offer him more. Just like people are happier to offer Ronaldo/Messi/ Salah/Haaland etc more money.

He’s never made a positive post before, ever.
That’s pure madness. The amount of negativity he has for the club can’t be good for the chap.
I’ve barely watched more than a handful of our games the past few seasons so disgusted at what I’m seeing from the team and club but I at least still have hopes that they will sort the mess that is UTD currently. Running man seems completely devoid of any hope. I’d pack in following them as a club if I got that bad!!
