Hah Lyon have rejected Westham first bid for Paqueta. Please nooooooooooooo. So many good options available throughout europe if all we want is cover!
What's the true cost?Look at how much Newcastle are looking to pay for a player that is a 1 in 3 striker and how much Everton is wanting for Gordon.
Then you look at how much Haaland and Jesus have cost and you laugh.
Not an £80m player though is he? It's a £45m experiment like Martial that will end up with us overpaying, injured, on the bench unsellable while never living up to the price tag.
Harry Maguire is a £80m player.... Ffs
He's the player ETH wants, there's some logic in paying another £30m to get who you actually want instead of paying £50m for someone you don't, or who is a bigger gamble.
Transfer fees, deals and wages are just huge now for everyone. Liverpool have just paid a potential £84m for Darwin Nunez who isn't a guaranteed slam dunk.
Yes, the club is run dreadfully, and we're suffering due to a complete lack of strategy or planning, but that doesn't mean everything should be written off as a negative.
If that's true though, then just give FDJ another £15m for his unpaid wages and get the player you've coveted all along. It's mental to try and pretend you're a functioning business being logical and sensible in some scenarios and then going to pay double a players value for the sake of it.
Is Antony really going to push us up beyond what we already have or would it make more sense to just leave it till next year.
I think it's perfectly ok to be negative should things be deserving of it. You only have to look at the reactions of opposition fans to our transfers. Everyone on here could agree that Jesus was a good buy for Arsenal, similarly with Haaland for City or Sterling for Chelsea, most other fans would have those players at their clubs. People aren't negative for the sake of it on here (excluding Nick), but the amount of hilarity at all of Uniteds dealings are there for a reason. I don't think anyone would've taken any of our signings at their clubs for even half what we've paid.
I know we all say "Well yeah, we're United, we'll always overpay", but there has to be action to stop that being the case and this summer we've probably been even more stupid than ever.
@The Running Man
I didn't say Antony is as good as Neymar, but on the ball he's also an exciting player to watch. Much like Saint Max.
ETH must see serious potential in him, and he ultimately knows best. He'll be well aware of the pressure if an £80m player he's pushed for doesn't work out.
I'd take gucci over Antony.
Or like Sancho just wait a year and get 40% discount. Let him play discontented and get him in Jan or next summer.
And try to develop some talent between now and then in terms of Amad, Elanga, Pellestri etc
Rather than get royally shafted. Let teams know we just won't over pay.

I'm guessing Henderson won't be back, given his comments after he left and that were apparently looking for another keeper.
Newcastle would want a huge fee too, and he's 3 years older. Antony is already discontented and pushing for a move.
I think people need to understand that the spotlight here is immense. Your every move is scrutinised. This is not an ideal environment to bring through young inexperienced players.
Let's say ETH does as you suggest and tries to use Amad, Elanga and Pellistri and we're 12th at Christmas. He won't last 5 minutes. Money has to be ploughed in to plug some of these gaps. Despite the cost, Casemiro does that very well.
Hopefully for next summer we'll have a more coherent plan in place (where have I heard that before)...
Although does Antony play on the right? As does another £80m player...

If he's 12th by Xmas with the world's most expensive defence, Ca-Super-Hiro at cdm and the possibly greatest player of all time up front.
80m right winger, Sir Rashford at lw and Fred.
Then he deserves to be fired.
Teams have come top 6 before without the budget but instead a great tactical plan, which is ETH job to impose on the team.
