Summer Transfer Window 22/23

Fofana to Chelsea confirmed. Who is he replacing?? Silva is still their best CB by a distance it seems and they have just bought Koulibali.

I'm glad the whole saga is over, be even better is we can offload Tielemens as well.

Hopefully we can pull in some new signings, I'd even take Maguire off united's hands for the right price, £20m done deal ;)

Aside from his lack of pace, Maguire isn’t that bad. He’s had a few on and off the pitch problems that seem to have snowballed.

Be interesting to see if he can be reintegrated into the team. I don’t think being captain helps him either.

Maguire was great for us before, a natural leader on the pitch, calm, good footwork, superb tackler, banged in a few goals.

Goes to United and falls apart?!?
my post was in jest but yea you're right, he seems to have fallen to pieces. shame though, cause as @Robbo says, apart from lack of pace he's not as bad as the media and fans would have everyone believe.

Sancho did the same really.

20 goals abd then 16 for dortmund then 5 for UTD... ugh. 70+ million gone

Hes like many of the players we have bought over the past 10 years. Unsuited to the style of football we want to play or unsuited to the style the next manager wants to play. Maguire is fine in a team that sits back and hits on the counter. Hes fine when his midfield is in front of him and there aren't large gaps he has to marshall.

He was fine for Ole-ball but for any manager that expects to be playing higher up the pitch he isn't quick enough or reactive enough.

He'd probably excel in tuchels Chelsea

Maybe, depends how they want to play ultimately. United certainly aren't likely to play how EtH wants to play until at least next season. I'm not sure what Tuchel wants. Probably a good striker.

If Chelsea threw us £70m i'm sure they could have had Maguire.

We’re apparently exploring the idea of Gakpo and Hwang Hee-Chan. Gakpo if James goes, I’d be ecstatic with that but can’t see it happening.
That would be an amazing piece of business. What did you pay for James? £25m or something...? Daylight robbery :D

@Kenai What do you think about AMN joining? Think he can do a job for you?
Not really sure what the aim is for him, seems a versatile player, so Hassenhuttel is probably lining him up to be reserve goalkeeper or something.

More interested to see if the claims that we've agreed a fee and terms for Gakpo hold any merit.

AMN is going to replace Oriol Romeu whohas not appeared this season and been heavily rumoured to be leaving. We seem to be going with two DM’s so his arrival will give us 4 players to cover each other. He is also useful cover at full back which is handy with Tino still out.

Looks like we could have a whole heap of arrivals tomorrow, couple more city youth players CB from France AMN and this Dutch lad (who oddly for a player supposedly leaving just banged in a Hat trick for PSV tonight) if rumours are to be believed!

Anyone know why Gakpo is only 20m and he scored 21 in 47 last season and has 4 in 8 this year and Antony is 84m?
Simple Ajax have money PSV don’t, not needing to sell means you can demand more money oh and they saw united coming a mile a way Antony may prove me wrong but he looks very poor business.

It seems like every english player we had was unsuited to the system as Rashford, Sancho Maguire, The left back, bissaka etc all had the worst seasons of their careers.

Even Bruno had his worst season for 6 years.

Now at the time I did question Rangnicks credentials but apparently he knew better and was literally espoused as being the godfather of modern football. It didn't feel that way to me somehow. And if you don't make any transfers you kinda have to play to your play strengths and encourage them gradually to change.
