Summer Transfer Window 22/23

Watched quite a few Ajax games last season and have to say he looked ok but nothing special given 90% of the Eredvisie is Championship/league 1 standard. Time will tell with the massive gulf in class. If Maguire has been able to masquerade as a CB I guess anyone can!

Diego Carlos signs for us for an undisclosed fee (though rumours are it's 31mill).

Madness. Rumours had barely started and its practically done.

As I said earlier I'm not entirely sure how I feel about it but I'm more then happy with this trend of getting deals done early and with direction. Can't wait to see what he can do for us!

The end of Mings?

I hope not, but it's possible. He's a difficult one really. He does make some very obvious errors but then makes up for them with some phenomenal saves (just look at that stretch he made to deny Weghorst a few weeks ago). 9 times out of 10 he makes the right play.

I genuinely think the negativity surrounding him is just confirmation bias, particularly from neutrals. People forget that when you have a midfield as iffy as ours then the defenders are going to have a lot more eyes on them and many more chances to make visible errors.

I really like him and always have. He's a great captain, strong, better then most at the back and excellent in the air. I'd be gutted to see him benched for any length of time or worse sold, but if Gerrard sees an opening for a more technically proficient and 'reliable' player to take his place then that's fair enough, that's just the nature of the game. You have to trust in his thinking.
