Summer Transfer Window 22/23

Leeds have signed another RB Salzburg players, right back Kristensen for 10m. Looks a unit and 10 goals last season!

Striker, left back and another midfielder without selling KP and Raphinha and we’re onto a winner :D

Is Raphinha actually going? I thought Barca were interested but they can't even afford to pay the players they have let alone buy more.

I’m sure if they don’t buy him someone else will, but yeah they can’t afford him. They are such a boring club now, at least we are holding firm on asking price and wanting a lump sum rather than instalments.

This is picking up pace.
If it is true and if Ekitike signs that's 60million on two teenagers.
Could be two very good signings. Especially if they do the business and their stock rises (although Newcastle are now loaded so who cares about price). Howe has probably built up enough trust from last season to go for some of these players to develop regardless of price (within reason).

I’d really like Howe to make a great go of Newcastle, if they’re pushing to the top 6 or 7 that would be a great turnaround and success. Will he be there in five or six years? Probably not, but I hope they at least give him a chance to show what he can do. He’d also make a good England Manager, his teams play good football.

Jeez how many new signings do Newcastle need...their squad is going to be huge no?
I’d expect a few leavers come the end of this month. Quite a few contracts seem to run to end of June. Also I’d imagine Howe has designs on a decent cup run as they’re certainly not in a position to challenge for the league just yet.

Only real solid links have been

Botman, Ekitike, Sarr and Daibly.

Will be disappointed if we don't sign Botman and Ekitike since we've been working on them since January.

Botman still has plenty of twists yet.

Edit: update on Botman seems we are trying to maximise our spending while still working under FFP. 15million up front then rest spread over his contract.

I dont really get the Botman and Ekitike deals, I thought there were a few clubs who wanted Botman and Ekitike, cant really understand why either of them would pick Newcastle over those other clubs. Weren't AC Milan interested in Botman a while ago? If they still are, why on earth would Botman if asked Do you want to go to Newcastle or AC Milan, say Newcastle rather than AC Milan? Tbh, I'm not convinced that Newcastle will get most of these continually linked players, its one thing to make a bid or have the money, its another thing for the player to want to come to Newcastle rather than a more "prestigious" club

For some players the money is enough regardless of the clubs history, current status etc

Rumour has it (on The Athletic, so reasonably credible) that we've informally agreed personal terms with Nunez...
I strongly suspect, with 99% of transfers and not just this one, that personal terms are the first thing that's agreed before any negotiations between the clubs.

Yeah, but at least it adds some credance that the club is genuinely interested as they wouldn't go to that level otherwise.
True, although as soon as every Liverpool based journo reported our interest then you knew that info had come from the club and other than a couple of times where they were being a bit naughty, they tend to only do that when they're comfortable that a deal is on the cards.

Exactly opposite from all the ex pro's I've seen interviewed on Under the Cosh. They are often saying how they are called in and told a deal with X and has been agreed and they need to go and talk to the club and agree terms. Not that they have to go but the club has already agreed a deal. Even in the Media you often see that personal terms are talked about after the clubs have agreed.

A 30 second search tells me that those interviewed on Under the Cosh are mostly old (90s or earlier) or 2nd rate players. Maybe that was the case for them, in that era but at PL level today clubs are not carrying out negotiations with a club without knowing whether that player will join them, and that will involve a broad agreement on contract details.
