Summer Transfer Window 22/23

He was integral to the Bielsa way, the stats speak for themselves when he didn’t play.
I imagine our new way of playing won’t be as reliant on him, hence we could probably find someone close to his ability abroad for a fraction of the price.

Yeah, DMs are quite often the sort of player you don't notice until they aren't there. I remember Matic coming to United and for the first half of the season it was miraculous the difference he made. Then I got used to him :p

We've agreed to sign Ramsey from Aberdeen for 6.5 million, no more incomings, transfer window done on that front according to the likes of Joyce/Maddock etc, just outgoings now.

I'm not so sure I mean I agree out goings will happen but incoming wise I think may still be one more

I think there's a lot of 2 + 2 equalling 5 with the Bellingham links. I have no doubt we like him but everybody in Europe does too. I doubt the club are waiting for him and only him. The links with Tchouameni show that we have/had other targets in midfield. That said, in the last couple seasons when the club have briefed the press that we're done, it's turned out to be the case. We don't just buy to make up the numbers, it has to be the right players and if theyre not available then we'll wait.

Unless something very unlikely happens with Bellingham, who by all accounts is our primary midfield target, then I don't see it. We don't sign stop gaps.
I hope that, in a season with a stupid world cup in the middle of it, we dont end up regretting not getting a midfielder

Porto's Vieira to Arsenal for 35 million euros apparently. He's an attacking midfielder so seems an odd choice.
Very bizarre, same age as our attacking midfielders too, probably the last position we need reinforcements.

A quick 5min google does suggest he's got a lot of potential but if money's tight is makes little sense.

Maybe they figure that they can just recycle all of Patricks old gear so they save on buying new Vieira stuff :D

Fabio Vieira has the tools to be a top signing for Arsenal if his development continues to be fed well. Was tracked by LFC, City and Real amongst others. The U21 Euros Player of the Tournament can function as a midfield anchor, No 8, playmaker. Seen as Porto's creative heartbeat

dont know how he fits in with odegaard who basically does all that

This could be a case of Tielemans dragging his heels waiting to see what other interest materialises, and we've moved right on to our next target. Or it may be that we are interested in both to enable Xhaka to finally make a move (I hope not), which he hasn't pushed for but equally has been forthright over his relationship with the Arsenal fan base. Either way, with resources at a premium, we aren't spending £30m+ for a player to ride pine on the bench. It's clear enough we are looking for reinforcement in the left-central area of midfield, and whomever we sign will be earning a lot of minutes.

I have seen little of Fabio Vieira, but if he is multi-positional that would continue Arteta's strategy of acquiring positional and tactical flexibility. Far from being disjointed, the transfer strategy over the past 12 months has been very cohesive.

Not so confident on Tielemans now we’ve gone in with £30m for this guy. All 3 would come to about £110m.

Would Stan spend that after spending £150m last year? I’m not so sure.

I think it is likely Rob. The outlay last summer came as a direct result of many years of contract and financial mismanagement, a need to invest (overlooked when opposing fans discuss pure outlay). The hierarchy are clearly behind Arteta and he has been consistent about what is required this summer and what the club intend to do. Two or three key signings are a necessity. The impact of not qualifying for the CL will be seen in keeping Nketiah and perhaps not replacing Pepe with an experienced player. It will be interesting to see whether Arteta is able to rehabilitate any of the loanees, we will need further depth. We may also have a reasonable amount of income selling too, for the first time in many a year.
