Summer Transfer Window 22/23

I think Gabriel Jesus sounds like a good signing for Arsenal, but I actually think Arsenal need players with a bit more... steel. He'll probably do OK, but in isolation I'm not sure he'll take them any further up the table.

Reports today that timber has rejected a move to man u, in addition to news that Barca no longer have to sell de Jong 'cheap' as they've agreed to sell certain elements of their licence and merchandising Division so will get large cash injection.

Haven't seen that about Timber, not sure we're even in for him. There have been stronger links to Antony.

The Barca situation is very complicated, I think they've effectively sold off half of their long term advertising/merchandising rights for a short term cash injection.

I know it's early days but I am still concerned. I wanted us to pursue 3-4 targets aggressively and get them in before pre-season. May still happen, but you can understand the apprehension...

You've got a new team in place so I would have thought you'd have gone hard on getting the targets the manager wants quickly, Instead it seems to be very much a case of same old same old, I'd be worried too if I was in your shoes.

Barca's issue is their wage cap, raising money doesn't change that.

Barca have issues in many places and they are just kicking the can down the road if they don't address the actual cause of those problems and get a handle on them for a few years. The sale of FdJ would certainly help on two fronts. Who knows.

Honestly I am most excited about our manager. I think that a good manager is worth a hell of a lot of good players. I'm not at all worried about our transfers currently and won't be for another 2-3 weeks.

Yes we have holes in this team but I still think that with buy in from the players and a good manager we should be able to compete for top 4 relatively easily next season. It will probably be between Chelsea, United and Spurs for the last 2 places and I still don't rate Spurs much outside of Kane and Son.

Brighton have signed another young South American - Julio Enciso. Seems like we’re not loaning him out for a season first like we do fairly often.

Don’t know much about him I’ll be honest, apparently he’s one of the bigger SA talents (excluding Brazil), I trust the team with transfers though, they’re often getting it right.

Sad to see him go but it was the right decision all round. As he showed when he moved into the middle, he's still a fantastic player but he's not the Mane of 18-24 months ago. He's no longer capable of putting the hard yards in that we require from our attackers and he seemed to have lost a yard of pace. Peak Mane would burst past fullbacks but I can't remember him doing much of that in the last year or so. In Diaz we've already replaced the old Mane and hopefully in Nunez we have a younger, better centre foward Mane.

Because of Coutinho to begin with and then Salah, he probably didn't get the recognition he deserved with us. Had his (and Wijnaldum's) signing not worked out then who knows where we'd be today. Mane helped get us back into the CL and we never looked back from there.
Bigger loss than losing salah that is
No it's not. Not only is Salah better, we don't have anybody to replace Salah where as we have 2-3 players that have and will replace Mane.

Dont agree salah is better, he scores more goals but mane is a better all round player the work he puts in off the ball and when not in attack

The work Mane puts in that he's not capable of putting in anymore? And Salah doesn't only score more goals, he also creates far more than Mane too.

Mane has more blocks per game more interceptions more completed passes. He loses the ball less than salah

Its not just about attack mane is a better all round player than salah and thats my opinion

Bayern werent after salah was they…

I'll take goals and assists over blocks per game from my forwards thanks :D

All round game is a bit vague. No doubt that Mane offered more running the other way but anybody that watched him over the past 18 months will tell you that he was no longer capable of doing that and being as effective going forward anymore, so much so that he was being left out of the side for Jota on more than the odd occasion. And that of course was before Diaz arrived and hit the ground running. Mane only rediscovered any sort of form when he was moved from the left and played as a centre forward because he had less running to do.

And that last sentence is ridiculous. Mane's the best player in the world then because Bayern haven't gone after Mbappe or whoever else I take it?
