Damnit! Was really hoping Eriksen would stay with us... now we've got to spend money on a replacement.
I kind of feel for Brentford really, I had hoped he would stay with Brentford. It seemed like Brentford were willing to "take a chance" on him when nobody else wanted to risk it so its a bit of a shame that he has then left so quickly. I'd have liked to see him give them one more season at least.

Is there any suggestion he's ripping everything up and starting again? If anything he seems to be happy to work with most of the existing squad.

He does, and there is talent in the squad for sure - it just needs knitting together.

So currently we have:
  • Eriksen likely joining
  • Malacia who looks a good prospect
  • De Jong deal still being worked on
  • Martinez looking somewhat positive too
Would be excellent if they were all done by the end of the week.

Let’s not get too cocky, we’re hardly having a revolution

We could win a treble and he'd still be posting nonsense as usual.

Youve signed someone on a free and a backup player for the future and losing your top goalscorer

And your struggling to attract any of your top targets de jong dont even want to go to utd

Tell me how thats nonsense and not the usual rubbish business utd been doing for the last however many years

So you think Eriksen is a bad signing? Based on?

A top goalscorer who isn't in the long term plans of the club and won't fit into the new managers system? Something most people would agree on, and did when he signed.

We're also looking at signing Martinez, a top target of your own club?

You're aware there are almost two months remaining of the transfer window?

Anything else?

He's hardly going to come out and say he doesn't want him is he?!

Midfield has been our weakest area for years now, defensive and offensive. This is well documented.

Martinez is a CB?

What is the alternative? Should we sign players that ETH doesn't want?
It's not about signing players he wants or doesn't want. It's about having a structure in place that doesn't rely on one man. The club sets the overall philosophy and appoints a manager/coach to carry that out and they bring players in that fit into that way of playing. There is, yet again, zero evidence of that happening at Utd. The man they appointed in a short term managerial role that was meant to help implement this moving forwards has left and all Utd's transfer targets are just players ETH has worked with or knows from his time at Ajax.

There is no continuity in anything Utd have done and by the looks of it, will be doing now. They're just going to put their eggs in the ETH basket and when he doesn't come good they'll rinse and repeat with the next manager not wanting the 4 foot CB you're being linked with just like ETH doesn't want the non football playing RB Ole signed.

I don't know how you can say in such a short term whether we do or don't have that in place yet. This is something that is evident over years, not months. How do you know exactly that nobody else has an input into transfers? Indeed as a club we've been interested in Eriksen before so it's not like that one is coming from ETH, he wasn't even at the club when Eriksen was there.
