Summer Transfer Window 22/23

Ronaldo could probably go to another club in the CL as long as he is willing to take a large wage cut. Apparently his wages have been slashed to about £360k/week after United didn't qualify for CL last season. We will get to see how much he cares about money vs playing in the CL soon.

I hope he goes personally. Never wanted him back and will be glad to see the back of him again. Quality player but an egotistical knob and I personally think that he was a large part of the unsettled dressing room last season. If we have to go into the season without a proper striker then so be it. We can just overload the forwards and do what a lot of teams do now and rely on contributions from 4-5 players instead of 2-3.

I’d be surprised if he hadn’t unsettled the dressing room… going into that absolute mess after being there last when we were at our peak, he must have gone absolutely mad.

Shame really, I enjoy his football. But it was never going to work properly with the way the team was with Ole and Rangnick.

We had no problem before he came scoring goals. Okay Greenwood is gone now but hopefully Rashford and Martial can kick on like they were a couple of seasons back.

In theory if we get FdJ we could be pushing Fernandes higher up the pitch and I would put money on Sancho having a much better time if EtH can get the team playing even remotely how he wants. I don't worry that much about goals without Ronaldo. Chelsea were fine last year, City and Liverpool have been fine for years without an out and out striker and we are only aiming for top 4 next season.

I think Ronaldos negatives still outweigh his positives. I just worry that the club will refuse to let him leave easily and we will have a miserable Ronaldo making life hard under EtH.

The guys worth half a billion, if he really wants to play at the elite level just go somewhere without demanding silly wages.

You say that and it makes sense, but people are often very greedy about things like this. I mean, if he truly cared about winning more trophies/playing more, he could pretty much go anywhere and play for free, without any real detriment to his life.

I thought it was great he came back, but it feels like we've just been used now and he's probably caused more issues than not. The argument that without his goals we'd have finished 16th (for example) is somewhat irrelevant as nobody knows how the squad would have performed without him.

I do wonder about Martial, he's a very gifted player if ETH can somehow get a tune out of him. Probably unlikely.

The FDJ situation sounds very complicated. He's owed €17m in deferred wages and Barca don't want to pay it. They effectively want us to cover their debt to the player as part of the fee. They really are dreadful.

If we force Ronaldo to stay, that will spectacularly undermine ETH and make things so difficult. I think he's got to go at all costs.

The issue is that there is no hard and fast rule about how these deferred wages should work if the player leaves. In theory he should get whatever he is owed based on the time he has been on the lower deferred wage structure. Barca are a bunch of ***** though so they will try and weasel out of it any way they can and try to paint Frenkie as the villain. Honestly if I was Frenkie I would say "pay me what you owe me or I will just sit here until my contract runs out and you will lose huge amounts of money you can't afford".

This is part of the reason it was such stupid idea to bring him back. He had a decent season last year but his arrival coincided with a complete implosion of the dressing room and now we are in a position where we don't want to lose face, Ronaldo wants out but doesn't want to be seen to be the agitator / leaving the club again but we really don't need an ageing forward in a team that will want to press and put the team first.

I don't think Martial is the answer. I guess you gotta give people a chance under new management but his work rate hasn't blown me away in recent seasons, he didn't rip up many trees when out on loan either by all accounts.
Rashford I think might benefit from a more clearly defined role, i.e. if Cavani, Ronaldo and Greenwood aren't available next season then try him through the middle again, I've seem him deployed out wide quite a bit but never really had him pegged as that type of player.

I see we are committing the same sins again under TH.

Offering players from Ajax a 300% salary increase?

Why not offer 30% or 50%?

The reason we can't easily offload players is because we overpay in the wage department. Hence why Eric Baily, Jones etc are still with us.

If a player doesn't want to move to UTD for a 50% pay rise then is he really motivated by the club or money?

Also £100m+ for a pair of unproven players from the Dutch league. Move on and buy the players ajax are about to buy for less than 20m as their replacements.

Are we even forcing him to stay? There seems to be very little actual interest. More clubs have come out saying they aren't interested than are.

I don't think we will force it at all but the club have basically said "we don't want him to go and we expect him to see the rest of his contract out". Thats what almost every club would say about a big name player. If another club comes in and is willing to give us even a token transfer fee I would be amazed if we actually try and stop him leaving.

I think we'd be happy for him to leave, I don't know if we'd be happy to sell him to a PL rival.

Honestly it wouldn't bother me that much. I think he would cause the same issues wherever he went. Hes a poor mans Lewandowski with an ego 10x the size. Would be very surprised if Chelsea touch him unless the new yank owners want him.

I think he would too, but it's still a huge risk that somehow it works out and he fits perfectly.

If Barca buy Raphina for less than Ajax are asking us for Antony then the club is absurd.

Pull out of FDJ as he clearly doesn't want to move to us, causing the Barca bid on Raphina to fall through and buy Raphina for 50m.

Bring in Dybala or Dembele on a free and find another CDM. Transfer window: Completed.
