Summer Transfer Window 22/23

City doing v well in shipping Sterling, Jesus plus Zinch for 100m+

Don't remember so many "well known" City players leaving in the same window.
Years of strong squad building has put City in a position where they can now raise decent money without massively hurting their squad and it's going to massively help them with FFP in the future.

From an accounting point of view, Zinchenko, Sterling and Jesus would have been worth a combined £15-20m so their sales of £120m odd will result in City recording a profit of around £100m. That £100m will cover around 3 years worth of amortisation (the yearly expense of a transfer fee) of Haaland, Phillips and Alvarez's fees.

I don’t think he’ll be as much of a backup as you think. He’s pretty versatile, probably a better attacker than Tierney.

I think there's every chance he'll also compete for the LCM position, akin to his role for Ukraine. Zinchenko is another sensible and versatile addition to the squad, covering two positions of need, and offers a different style of play in both.

I think that's a good deal for both tbh, he's got quality and experience. 30m is not a lot these days when you see some of the ridiculous fees being paid for other players who don't even have prem experience never mind title winning experience.

And city get to bag another nice 30m for their books.

What use is title winning experience to Arsenal :p

I think this could be a really good season in the PL if United can get FdJ. All the top 6 have made some good additions and should in theory have good seasons. Could be very competitive outside of City IMO.

Yeah I guess for anyone but Liverpool or City title winning xp is a meme.

I think City are going to walk the league this year unless someone other than Liverpool step up. Not convinced by Nunez and Mane was a super important player for them. Fingers crossed Haaland has a bad season one way or another and its a fight to the end.

On the topic of Martinez, if you watch any of his highlight reels he is a brilliant passer of the ball and good one on one and intercepting the ball. I assume thats why EtH wants him.

Nunez is really just such an unknown quantity really. He's had one season in Portugal's top tier and before that 2nd Division of Spain. He'll have a lot of adjusting to do but I am really not convinced.

I guess Klopp sees something in him. Maybe he'll have a better second season rather than his first. I think he may struggle with the Haaland vs him 'hype battle'.

I hope I am proved wrong and City fail miserably. :p

About as much use as it is to Utd.

I agree though, this season is shaping up nicely, lots of interesting moves this summer. Top 6 all look considerably stronger than last year. Top 4 race could be a belter. Thought Newcastle could get involved, but I’m a bit underwhelmed with their business tbh. Thought theyd be splashing the cash more than they have. I think the top 6 are gonna pull away even further this year.
