I doubt it's the odd few £m that's the sticking point tbh. It's most likely the structure of the deal with Southampton wanting more guaranteed and us wanting to pay more in bonuses, and more importantly, what percentage of the guaranteed fee that we pay on day one. Without PL tv money Southampton will want as much of the money up front so where we might be offering £40m guaranteed but only £20m on day one, they could be asking for £30m on day one for example.

Forwards: Salah, Diaz, Gakpo, Nunez, Jota
Not listed: Pitaluga, Bradley, Morton, Doak

Phillips should be sold. Surprised he is happy sticking about tbh
Statistically he was far superior to Ramsdale last season. They weren't even close. He, in my opinion, also passed the eye tests too and looked much better than Ramsdale also.
So we've got 9 defenders, 6 central midfielders and 6 forwards - I'm not including Pitalga or Morton as neither will play a minute for us this season. With keepers that 24 players. That's hardly scraping the barrel and we're likely to sign at least two more before the window shuts.
I'm not sure who you're included in the 10 outs but only Henderson and Fab played any meaningful number of minutes. Arthur, Ox, Keita and Firmino were injured most of the time and I'm not sure who the the other 4 you've included even are. As above, we need and will get more, but when you factor in the additional minutes you're going to get out of a full season of Jones & Bajcetic, I reckon we've got more available midfielders in real terms than we've had in a long time. The issue isn't numbers but the balance with most wanting to play in the more advanced midfield roles and not the holding role. If and when Lavia signs that will look a lot more balanced.
