Summer Transfer Window 23/24

So we've got 9 defenders, 6 central midfielders and 6 forwards - I'm not including Pitalga or Morton as neither will play a minute for us this season. With keepers that 24 players. That's hardly scraping the barrel and we're likely to sign at least two more before the window shuts.

I'm not sure who you're included in the 10 outs but only Henderson and Fab played any meaningful number of minutes. Arthur, Ox, Keita and Firmino were injured most of the time and I'm not sure who the the other 4 you've included even are. As above, we need and will get more, but when you factor in the additional minutes you're going to get out of a full season of Jones & Bajcetic, I reckon we've got more available midfielders in real terms than we've had in a long time. The issue isn't numbers but the balance with most wanting to play in the more advanced midfield roles and not the holding role. If and when Lavia signs that will look a lot more balanced.
Milly is the only other one of note

I forgot about him :o I've just checked and he played sub 900 minutes in the PL last season. Although he was good to have around, his departure is pretty inconsequential.
A fair chunk of those were probably in defense, anyway I'm one of those that disagrees with the narrative that we're leagues weaker this season based on our transfer business so far..

Both bids have apparently been rejected, Maguire sounds likely to happen though.

I'd take it. Maguire has no future here and McTominay is a decent player but nothing special at all.
Rumoured to be c£60m. For a club that normally prefers to let players run down their contract and leave for free this would be incredible. Neither are players that will progress this team and noth deserve first team football. Suspect Maguires wages will be a problem though.

Caicedo pulling the same **** he did in January, what a complete ****. Why the hell didn't he ask for a release clause if he was so desperate to leave?

He signed a new contract right after our attempts to sign him failed. Can't be moaning now!

I'd suggest Jamie Cararagher, like most football fans, avoid markets in places like Morocco or Istanbul. I know most football fans are the definition of self entitled but I'll never get my head around the whole 'just pay the money' shouts you see time and time again. It's like they have no idea of how negotiations work and if Carragher and many of the nutters on twitter read the article that went along with the tweet, they'd see that it's being reported that Southampton want more than £50m.

Agreed.

I doubt it’s actually about the money itself, more likely any payment structure. It’s possible they want it all up front or a maximum of two payments and Liverpool may be trying to stretch it over five years for example. Or any sell on clause or who pays the agents fees, what happens to his dog, can his mum come with him etc etc.
