Summer Transfer Window 23/24

Why is everyone assuming a Ward-Prowse and Maguire combination is going to be some lethal goal scoring threat for West Ham? Maguire has never been a particular threat in front of goal from set pieces with his head. Warwick Davis is a bigger goal threat from aerial balls than Maguire.

Maguire will be great for WHU. As much as people take the ****, hes not a bad defender. Hes just not very quick and doesn't turn rapidly. Thats fine if you are largely defending deep and aren't worried about people running in behind.

And Levy can go "so?"

Exactly. Clubs don't have to sell to someone they don't want to. They, as far as I know, regularly enough sell for less money to a different club they don't consider a rival for whatever reason.

I think Maguire is OK. He's a slightly above average mid-table defender. He seemed to get this reputation as a marauding centre back who was good on the ball when he was at Leicester, which he does do, but then he can't turn around and run back very quickly...

He's fairly average in the air for his size, too.

A bizarre twist on the usual "He was **** anyway" that you get when a club sells a previously popular/decent player :p
Fez just isn't taking any chances until he see's Moyes and Maguire holding a West Ham shirt together. Until it's signed there's always the chance that West Ham could realise they're getting a dud.

Maguire has been pretty hard done by, he might not be Stam good but he hasn't deserved anything like the level of criticism he gets and I think a new start will be good for him he will likely turn out to be a good signing for West Ham.

Well Kane then just leaves on a free next year and Spurs have no striker or money

There's some ridiculous moments from Maguire like where's he's literally dragging Shaw to the ground preventing him being able to clear the ball etc.

For all the jokes I make, he's not a terrible defender. At a side that sits deep and have their fullbacks tuck in, leaving their CB's to just make blocks and headers, he's fine. He was never a player that was capable of playing for a side that was going to play front foot football though and when Ole tried to start playing more attacking football and under ETH, he's been left exposed. His biggest issue now is that he's just become a figure of fun amongst football fans and that's going to be held against him wherever he goes. In the same way Utd fans have got on his back, he could play great for 89 minutes but do something dopey and West Ham fans will be on his back for that one mistake too.

One thing is for certain is he's scoring the winner when West Ham play Utd. It could be at either end but it'll be him scoring it.

didn't say there weren't some odd moments but bad football players don't change hands for £80m, the pressure he is under these days is ridiculous every tiny mistake is analysed and played back in super slow mo to the point where plenty of fans seem to believe he is a league two player pretending to be an international defender. I'd never say he is world class but he is a good player and I think he will do well at West Ham of the two players they are signing I would be more worried about Ward-Prowse if the fans are expecting him to be a like for like replacement for Rice they are going to be very disappointed don't get me wrong he is a really talented player who will give his all but he is not at that level or the same role.
